Don’t let Finals get You Down, Stay Strong!
It’s not as busy as I expected it
to be at Blake’s this morning. There are only three people here other than
myself. A small blonde girl is sitting in the far left corner of the room. She appears
to be watching a movie or maybe a TV show on her laptop. There is a bearded man
sitting more towards the center of the room. He has an engineering book cracked
open and seems to be hard at work. Neither Blondie nor mountain man seem to be
paying attention to their surroundings as they are deeply focused on their own tasks.
A large black fellow is sitting two seats in to the right of Blondie with head
phones in and is jotting down notes almost in a panicked fashion. There’s a new
vibe in the room today and as far as I can it’s the essence of stress. Nearing
finals everyone appears to be either cramming or trying to find a little bit of
time to send their mind elsewhere.
As blondie seems to be the most
interesting character in the room, I point my attention towards her clothing.
She is wearing faded SpongeBob pajama pants and a pink John Deere hoodie. Her overall
appearance seems to be confident and relaxed. Every so often I hear her laugh
at her show but other than that she doesn’t seem to show much emotion. I start
to bore from studying Blondie so I have now pointed my attention towards
Mountain Man. I see him going over the same page with his finger over and over
again. As an engineer myself, I understand the struggle. Shortly after I hear
an alarm on his phone and by my guess it is time for him to leave. To my
surprise he hits the snooze button and carries on. Denzel has now closed his
laptop and began playing a game on his phone. I can see how focused he is on
this game because he hasn’t blinked in the past 2 minutes. He starts to tilt
his phone to the left and right and the thrusts it forward. My guess is that he
is playing Temple Run.
Blondie seems to have finished her
show and begins to pack up her stuff. She looks at her phone and shakes her
head and then slowly walks out. Mountain Man’s alarm has now gone off for the
second time so he takes that as his Q and begins to pack up as well. As he
packs his belongings I realize that I met him three years ago when we were
freshman. It turns out a beard can camouflage just about anyone. He looks at me
and by his lack of a nod I don’t think he recognizes me. Denzel is no longer playing
games on his phone. By the looks of it he has decided to take a nap. Which
doesn’t sound bad at all.
Unfortunately, nothing exciting has
happened today and that wraps up my time here.
