It is a warm, yet at the same time cool, November day. There are a lot of cars in the mall's parking lot, so there should a lot of people to observe inside. I get to the mall late today, and my usual place of observing is taken. I go to a place that is farther away from my usual observation point, so some areas I usually observe are obscured from view. I decide to observe from the balcony.
Something I have noticed during the past weeks is that little kids love trying to climb up the glass balconies. They do not even seem to be afraid of falling through or falling over the balcony. A little boy next to me tries climbing up the balcony, but his mother yells at him to get off. The boy does and sits next to his mother.
The cinnamon roll place has a whole bunch of customers waiting in line. The pretzel place has like a couple of customers. The ice cream place gets a few customers. The cinnamon roll place has the most customers as usual.
A lot of families are sitting at the benches today. There are four families sitting at the benches in the rest area, each one with a baby stroller. Three of the families are young (young mother and father), though one young family has the grandparents there. The other family seemed to be the child and his grandparents. The grandparents are having fun pushing the child in the stroller around the area. The young families are just sitting there, adults talking to each other.
The kids play area on the lower level of the mall is filled with kids. I can see the parents/grandparents sitting on the provided chairs as chaos swirls around them. The adults are cool, calm, and collected while the kids run on, climb on, and slide down the obstacles. The kids seem to be having fun.
The ethnic groups this week are: Latinos (majority), Caucasian, black/African-American, and Asian. There is some mixing of ethnic groups this week.
A majority of the people are wearing coats or jackets. Those that aren't are wearing long-sleeved shirts of some kind. I have seen a few males wearing short-sleeved shirts, though.
The amount of people walking through the area is consistently large. There has been some clogging of the passageways between the rest area and the restaurant area. Everyone is being polite and cordial. No one is in a rush, and no one is being rude. Everyone is keeping to themselves.
Security guards roll through the area frequently on their segways. Is there trouble here today? I have not noticed anything strange or suspect, but that is perhaps because the security guards are doing their jobs. No one seems bothered by the security guards' presence.

Families And Friends At The Mall

It is a warm November day this Saturday. Sun is shining, no clouds in the sky. A nice day to go shopping...
The rest area I usually observe from is very busy today. Many people are walking through the area. There are groups of friends and families passing through the area.
There is a family looking over the balcony. It is a mother, a young boy, and a young man. The mother is wearing a Superman hoodie. The young boy is wearing a red long-sleeved soccer shirt. The young man is wearing a maroon T-shirt. The young boy is seems to be about 8 or 9 years old. The young boy is climbing all over his mother. The young man (a teenager) turns around and watches the passers by. The mother looks over the balcony, and the young boy is constantly touching her in some way. The mother and the young boy sit down on a bench. The young boy sits on his mother's lap. The young man sits at a different bench from his mother and brother. Other family members (I assume) appear. A man is standing in front of the bench where the young man is sitting. Perhaps he is the father, even though he has not interacted much with the mother. This older man is talking with two older men.
A family is sitting at the bench to my right. It is an older man, a young woman, and a young boy. The young boy likes to bother the young woman. He keeps throwing a coin in the air. The young boy throws it up in the air and it falls to the ground in the middle of customer traffic. A man is walking by as the boy lunges for the coin. The man says "Whoa!" and has his arms in the air to show that he tried to not trample the young boy. The coin rolls under the bench I'm sitting at. The young boy goes after it, and the man walks by and says, "Almost got it" as he pats the young boy on the back. The man walks away with his friend.
Ethnicities this week: Latino (majority), Caucasian, black/African-American, and Asian. I see a lot more Asian people this week than last week. Not much mixing of ethnic groups this week.
The play area on the lower floor is full of children having fun. Some parents just sit at the provided chairs in the play area and watch their children from a distance. Other parents are more involved in their children's play. Some guide their children through the obstacles, some are just standing in the vicinity of their child watching them. The children seem to be having a good time.
There is a group of friends standing at the balcony. There is a young man wearing glasses, a blonde young woman, and a young woman with bright red hair. They are waiting to meet their friends, I assume. They meet up with their friends right in front of me (inches away). One friend is a young Asian woman, the other is a young woman with bright green hair. The people sitting at the bench to my right just stare at the group of friends.

Christmas in November

Got off to a late start today. It is a warm November day. Sun is shining, wind gently blowing. Christmas music is already on non-stop on one of the radio stations.
There is a group of young men looking over the balcony. They seem to be in their late teens/early twenties. One young man is wearing glasses, and he turns around to watch the passers-by. The other young man, wearing all black, just keeps looking down over the balcony. Both young men are wearing brown shoes. They walk away eventually, the man in black with a swagger.
Christmas decorations are up already. The Christmas tree is already up and decorated. There are a lot of Christmas-related signs advertising for stores. Even though it is early November, Christmas is in full effect at this mall.
A man is sitting with his daughter at a bench in front of me. The man's back is to me. He is wearing a yellow and black jacket. His wife is standing in front of him. They are sharing an ice cream cone. The woman likes the ice cream, it seems. The young girl (daughter) is sitting there, watching the people passing by and also interacting with her parents. Her mom rubs her back affectionately. The mom goes in line at the pretzel place. The man and the young girl join her in line. Other people take their spots at the bench, so they move to another bench (a sign obscures them from my view). I can still see the man standing and eating something, though.
The restaurants have had a steady flow of customers. The cinnamon roll place has had the most customers, as usual. The pretzel place has had a lot more customers today than I've seen in past weeks. The ice cream place has a bunch of customers today. It helps that it's warm outside today.
Ethnic groups today are: Latino (majority), Caucasian, black/African-American, and Asian. This week I have seen a lot more black/African-American people than in past weeks. Asian people this week are almost non-existent. There seems to be no mixing of ethnic groups this week. I did see one female same-sex couple. They walked through the area holding hands.
The males and females are wearing all different types of clothing. The males are wearing T-shirts, long-sleeved and short-sleeved shirts, jackets, vests, etc. They are wearing jeans, shorts, khakis, dress pants, etc. Footwear are sneakers, tennis shoes, dress shoes, and sandals. Females are wearing T-shirts, long-sleeved and short-sleeved shirts, blouses, jackets, tank tops, etc. They are wearing jeans, dress pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, etc. Females are wearing a wide variety of footwear: boots, sneakers, tennis shoes, sandals, flip flops, dress shoes, etc. A lot of females are wearing boots today.
There is a young woman here who has a rather large backside. She is wearing clothing that accentuates her figure. Another older woman passes by and stares at the young woman's backside as she walks by.

Halloween At The Mall

Today is October 31st, Halloween. Halloween is a holiday in which people young and old dress up in costumes for fun. The mood of the holiday is scary, spooky fun.
As I walked into the mall to get to my usual observation point, I saw a few people in costumes. Though Halloween is about spooky, scary fun, most of the costumes I saw on my way were of comedic and superhero characters.
Today doesn't seem very busy. Not many people are walking through my observation area. It has been a mix of costumed and regular people walking through.
Looking through the glass balcony at the lower level, I can see a stand that sells remote controlled cars and boats/vehicles. There is a man and a woman working at the stand. The man is wearing a black hat, black undershirt, orange button-up shirt, and blue jeans. He is wearing the colors of Halloween: orange and black. The woman is wearing a black sleeveless top, blue jeans, and brown knee-high boots. There are a lot of kids surrounding the area. Some of the kids are costumed, some are not. The woman lets some kids play with a ball that doesn't bounce. The kids seem to be having a good time. The woman is teaching a boy (not costumed) how to control a remote controlled car. The man in orange leaves for a while, but comes back. The man constantly talks to the woman, and he throws the non-bouncing balls at her a lot. Perhaps he is interested in her?
Across from me, at the restaurant area is a young woman (facing me) standing in front of another woman (back is to me). The young woman has green hair, a gray tank top and make-up on her arm and chest and cheek. The make-up looks like holes in her flesh, as if her skin is rotting. It looks like she is putting make-up on the young woman in front of her. It seems like she is making her up to look like a zombie. Nobody in the area minds that they are doing this. Another young woman in black joins them. She seems to be their friend. Yet another girl joins them, wearing a beanie and flannel.
Business is slow for the restaurant today. A couple of customers for the ice cream place, a couple for the pretzel place, and a few for the cinnamon roll place.

Uneventful Day At The Mall

It is a typical autumn day in El Paso, Texas. The nights/early mornings are cool, the day is warm/hot. It's a sunny day, but it is not hot. The mood is calm in the mall. The rest area I observe from is pretty vacant right now. Only a few people are passing through the area.
A man sits down to eat a big cone of ice cream, He is wearing a hunter's cap, blue plaid shirt, and blue jeans. His shoes have the look of the kind an outdoors man would wear. He is wearing glasses and has a mustache. All he is doing is eating his ice cream. He occasionally looks at passersby, but he is focused on the ice cream. None of the people passing by pay attention to him. He eventually leaves.
There is a woman wandering the area. She looks at her cell phone, walks to another spot, and looks at her cell phone again. She does this several times. It seems like she is waiting for someone or looking for someone. She eventually leaves.
A lot of people are looking over the balconies today. A lot of people have comic book super hero-type shirts on also.
People are wearing a wide variety of clothing today. Males are wearing T-shirts, polos, hoodies, flannel, long-sleeved and short-sleeved shirts. They are wearing jeans, shorts, sweatpants, and dress pants. Male footwear today is sneakers and tennis shoes. Females are wearing shirts, T-shirts, blouses, dresses, and jackets. There are females wearing jeans, track pants, shorts, dress pants, and sweatpants. As far as footwear goes, females are wearing sneakers, tennis shoes, sandals, casual shoes, and more.
There is an older man sitting at a table in the restaurant area. He is just sitting there, watching all the people go by. He has his hand near his mouth, and lightly rubs his lips with his index finger every so often. Perhaps he is people watching. Maybe he is observing the people for his own anthropology fieldwork blog. He leaves the area and goes to a far off bench to my left. Eventually, two young girls sit next to him. They all seem to be related.

There has been some mixing of ethnic groups, mainly mixed romantic couples. It was usually black/African-American male with a Caucasian female. There seemed to be no mixed groups of friends today.
There have been a lot of romantic couples today. They walk together, holding hands. The mall seems to be a place for couples to hang out at. A lot of families come here together also. Not a very active week.
A young Asian woman walks by with both hands occupied by packages of food. As she is walking, a packet of sauce falls off her food carton and onto the floor. An old man passing by picks up the packet and places it back on the food carton. The young woman smiles and says thank you.

Mellow Mall

It is a gray, overcast day in El Paso, Texas. It is warm, with a cool breeze drifting through. Pleasant weather today. Near the mall is a raging fire. I cannot see what specifically is on fire, I can just see the reddish orange flames and black smoke billowing up into the air. No one in the mall parking lot seems to care. They walk by, not even looking at the fire.
The mood is calm in the area I am observing from. Not too many people are resting in this rest area. Everyone is just walking through.
An older couple sit at a bench to the right of me. They have a young child with them. The child, a boy, may be about three or four years old. Two young women sit next to them. They seem to be related to the older couple. The young women are eating cinnamon rolls. The older man puts his arm around the older woman. Perhaps they are married. One young woman seems to be a teenager, the other young woman in her early twenties. The older woman talks to the child (who I cannot see from my vantage point once the young women sat down). They eventually leave.
Male and female's clothing today is pretty much the same as previous weeks. Males are wearing mostly T-shirts or shirts with short-sleeves. Pants and shorts are what they are wearing today. There are some males wearing long-sleeved shirts, but not many. Females are wearing a wide variety of clothing: shirts, T-shirts, jackets, blouses, etc. The females are wearing pants, shorts, skirts, capri pants, dresses, etc. The males are wearing mostly comfortable shoes like sneakers, tennis shoes, etc. The females are wearing sneakers, tennis shoes, dress shoes, etc.
The ethnic make up today is: Latino (majority), Caucasian, black/African-American, and Asian. The ethnic group with the least representation was Asian, as I only saw two Asian women during my time observing. Every ethnicity has stayed in their own ethnic groups. No mixing of groups this week.
The cinnamon roll place has had the most customers, as usual, today. The pretzel place has had more customers than usual this week. I have only seen one customer at the ice cream place. Since it is a cool day weather-wise, that probably explains the ice cream place's lack of customers.
There is an older man sitting at the bench across from me. He is on his cell phone and he looks worried. He is just talking and looking off to the side. He leaves.
A group of people are standing in the middle of the rest area. There is one older woman, one older man, two young women, and one young man. They are Latino. They are talking to each other. The young man leaves the group and sits at the bench across from me next to the balcony. He looks down to the lower level of the mall. Eventually the rest of the group joins the young man at the balcony and also look at the lower level with him. The older woman talks to the older man for a while. The older woman then talks to the younger women. They went from laughs and smiles to serious looks on their faces.

Females are wearing a wide variety of clothing: shirts, T-shirts, jackets, blouses, etc. The females are wearing pants, shorts, skirts, capri pants, dresses, etc. The males are wearing mostly comfortable shoes like sneakers, tennis shoes, etc. The females are wearing sneakers, tennis shoes, dress shoes, etc.
The ethnic make up today is: Latino (majority), Caucasian, black/African-American, and Asian. The ethnic group with the least representation was Asian, as I only saw two Asian women during my time observing. Every ethnicity has stayed in their own ethnic groups. No mixing of groups this week.
The cinnamon roll place has had the most customers, as usual, today. The pretzel place has had more customers than usual this week. I have only seen one customer at the ice cream place. Since it is a cool day weather-wise, that probably explains the ice cream place's lack of customers.
There is an older man sitting at the bench across from me. He is on his cell phone and he looks worried. He is just talking and looking off to the side. He leaves.
A group of people are standing in the middle of the rest area. There is one older woman, one older man, two young women, and one young man. They are Latino. They are talking to each other. The young man leaves the group and sits at the bench across from me next to the balcony. He looks down to the lower level of the mall. Eventually the rest of the group joins the young man at the balcony and also look at the lower level with him. The older woman talks to the older man for a while. The older woman then talks to the younger women. They went from laughs and smiles to serious looks on their faces.

Sunday Afternoon At The Mall

I am observing on Sunday this week, as I had prior commitments to attend to this Saturday. On this day it is warm and sunny. It would be considered 'pleasant'. The mall is pretty busy today. A lot of people walking through the area I usually observe from.
There is a young man wearing a denim vest sitting at a bench across from me. He has long hair and a mustache. He is Latino. He is sitting at a distance from his friend. He is just looking at his cell phone, perhaps texting. A larger young man comes and talks to the friend. He wants to sit in the empty spot between the mustached young man and the friend. The mustached young man scoots over, and the larger young man sits down. The mustached young man is squeezed into the corner of the bench, but does not seem to mind. They sit there silently for a while. The larger young man says something, and the other two laugh. After a while, they leave.
A group of four Asian men stop at a bench. One leaves, and the rest sit at the bench. One man is wearing a baseball cap and a white T-shirt that says 'Tokyo' on the front. Another man is wearing a green baseball cap and a blue, long-sleeved shirt. The guy with the Tokyo shirt leaves. The guy with the blue shirt just scopes the place out for a while. He then talks to the guy next to him. I cannot see much of this other guy, only that he is wearing a white T-shirt and has a squarish hair cut. They both look around the area for a bit, then look at the guy with the white T-shirt's cell phone. The other man has come back at some point. He is wearing a blue hoodie and black & yellow basketball shorts. The guy with the Tokyo shirt eventually returns as well. They eventually leave.
A lot of people today have been looking over the balcony at the children's play area. At one point I was in position to see this area. The kids were running around, jumping, and climbing through the obstacles. It was just non-stop motion. The parents seemed to be going in slow motion as compared to the children.
The restaurants seem to be getting good business today. The cinnamon roll place and the ice cream place has had the most customers. The pretzel place has had less than the other two, but it's had more customers that I've observed today as compared to previous weeks.

It seems that they really love each other. The father hides behind a large board. The daughter can't find him. She is baffled. She looks for him over the balcony. She actually tries to climb over the balcony, but her older teenage brother stops her. She gives up looking and plays with her mother instead. The father gives up hiding and walks over to his wife and daughter. The daughter smiles when she sees him.

It is a warm afternoon in El Paso, Texas. A few clouds in the sky, but the sun overpowers them. The area I usually observe from in the mall is busy. Lots of people walking through.
A majority of the men are wearing short-sleeved shirts: T-shirts, tank tops, polos, etc. I have only seen one male with a long-sleeved shirt on. Their pants range from jeans, dress pants, track pants, or shorts. A majority of the males are wearing comfortable shoes: sneakers, tennis shoes, flip-flops, etc. The women are wearing a wide variety of clothing: T-shirts, tank tops, blouses, dresses, coats, etc. They are wearing pants, skirts, shorts, capris, etc. The women are wearing comfortable to fashionable footwear: sneakers, tennis shoes, dress shoes, high heels, etc.
There is a young family standing near the balcony. There is a young woman, a young man, a baby, and a young girl. The young man and young woman appear to be teenagers. They seem to be the parents of the baby. The young man is pushing a stroller with the baby in it. The baby seems to be a year old or two. They all stop at the balcony while the young woman texts on her cell phone. The baby seems to want to go to the lower level where the play area for children is. The baby becomes quite fussy. The young girl just looks over the balcony. The young man has no expression on his face as he waits for the young woman. The baby drops his 'sippy cup', and the young girl and the young man both lunge for it. The young man picks it up. They all wait for a bit while the young woman texts. The young man and young woman talk for a bit before leaving the area with the young girl and baby in hand.
Quite the unusual sight. An elderly woman passed by wearing a T-shirt depicting 'shock rockers' Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson. She had purple hair.

The man silently eats while the woman stares off in the distance. The woman gets a few more spoonfuls of ice cream before leaving her spoon in the cup of ice cream. They eventually leave.

Free Cinnamon Rolls

Location: Mall - El Paso, TX

It is a warm, sunny day in El Paso, TX. Fall is beginning to take hold since it is nice and warm and not unbearably hot like it is during the summer. I am once again observing the population from the 'rest' area of this particular section of the mall.
Today, males are wearing mainly T-shirts/polos and jeans or shorts. I have noticed that a lot more males are wearing shorts today than in previous weeks. Women, as usual, are wearing a wide variety of clothing: tank tops, T-shirts, dresses, shorts, skirts, etc. Most of the males and females are wearing comfortable footwear like sneakers, tennis shoes, sandals, and flip flops.
There is an employee from the cinnamon roll place standing with a tray in hand giving out free samples. A majority of the people passing by are not taking the free sample she is offering. They would rather get in line and get a free roll from the employee behind the counter. The customers were polite in declining the employee. She eventually puts her tray away and tells the customers to stand in line if they want a free piece of of cinnamon roll. She takes a picture of the long line that has formed.
There is a guy sitting at a bench in front of me. He seems to be relaxing, looking at his phone. He looks up occasionally. He is mainly focused on his phone. He does keep looking in a certain direction. I do not look back in the direction he is looking, as to not reveal that I am observing him. He gets up to get a napkin from the cinnamon roll place. After he sits back down, he doesn't look at his phone anymore. He keeps nervously looking in that same direction. Eventually he leaves.
Two young males sit at a bench across from me. One male is blonde with glasses, the other is brunette. They sit down, and both lean forward to check their shoes. They adjust them and wipe them off. They get up to get something from the cinnamon roll place and leave.
The usual ethnicities are here: a majority of Latinos, Caucasian, black/African-American, and Asian. There are a lot of Asian customers today as compared to previous weeks since I've started observing. All of these ethnicities stay within their 'ethnic' groups. I have not noticed any mixing of ethnic groups today.
It is hard to tell how many romantic couples there are here. I would assume that there are many. The obvious couples are the ones that hold hands as they walk together. They are usually happy, enjoying each other's company. Then there are the couples where one person has their arm around the back/waist of the other's as they walk together. They usually walk by quietly.
This area is not so busy today. A lot of people are walking through the area. Not many people are resting. Perhaps the cooler weather is to blame. The fast food places have not had many customers today. The busiest one has been the cinnamon roll place, most likely because of the free cinnamon rolls. The ice cream place has had a little bit of customers. The pretzel place only had about two customers during my observation time.
There seems to be a lot of children in the play area on the lower floor. They seem to be having a good time. There is a lot of screaming going on down there. It seems like they are having a lot of fun, or at least, I hope so.

Security On The Job

Time: 12:40 p.m. - 1:40 p.m.
It is a gray and rainy day, the air cool and refreshing. The mall at this time today is quite busy. There are a lot of people walking through the 'rest' area I am observing from. There is a mix of people: Elderly, young adult, children, parents, couples, groups of friends, etc. There is an ethnic mix of predominantly latinos, caucasians, and black/African-Americans today. I have not seen anyone of Asian descent today (though they have been here the past two weeks).They are all in their own ethnic groupings. So far I have not seen a mixing of these groups today.
Even though it is raining outside, there were not many people wearing jackets or rain-related clothing. The males today are predominantly wearing a T-shirt and jeans. There are some wearing shorts or a long sleeved shirt. Women's choice in clothing varies: T-shirt, shorts, jeans, capris, skirts, dresses, etc.
Since it is raining outside, the ground is wet. This causes the bottom of the people's tennis shoes/sneakers to be wet. This causes a squeak when they walk in a certain way. A lot of young people are walking in this certain way in order to loudly squeak when they walk. No one seems to mind this.
Across from me is an older man, an elderly woman, and an older woman sitting at a bench. They sit for a while. They seem to be resting. Another older man in green comes and talks to them for a few minutes. They get up and eventually leave.
Security guards are a lot more noticeable today. They can be seen roaming about the area. They seem to be doing a good job, since there are no obvious problems happening. The security guards wear a white dress shirt and black dress pants. Some wear a black hat, some do not.
There is a steady stream of customers at the food places. The most popular place today is the Cinnamon Roll place. People seem to enjoy the food they are buying.
Two security guards are talking with an older man. One security guard is short and is wearing a black bike helmet. The other security guard is a bit taller and is wearing glasses and a black hat. The older man is wearing a baseball cap and has a white mustache and beard. At first I think they are friendly with each other, since they are walking side by side talking to each other. They stop walking and talk for a bit. Then the older man pulls out his wallet and the security guard with glasses takes it and writes something down on his pad. They talk for a bit again. People pass by them, not even looking at them. If this is a serious situation, it does not appear to be one. Eventually, they split up and leave. The short security guy goes 'north', the bespectacled security guard and the older man go 'south' together. Situation (?) over.

Week Two at the Mall

I am in the 'rest' area of the mall again. The people in the mall seem to be more lively than last week, but there are definitely less people here. This may be because it is a bit early in the day.
Dress style today is similar to last week. The majority of men are wearing T-shirts and jeans; women have a bit more variety. You see a lot of women wearing capri pants on this day.
Maintenance/janitorial personnel are working in the area. They seem to be having a good time with each other. Do they actually enjoy their jobs? Hard to tell. Even though the maintenance personnel are working in plain view of everyone in the area, no one even seems to notice them. It's like the personnel are not even there. Perhaps it is supposed to be this way, perhaps not. One worker passes by me. I give him a nod in acknowledgement. He reciprocates.
There is an older woman and younger woman sitting together on a bench across from me. They may be mother and daughter or sisters. They seem to be taking a break from shopping. They look through their shopping bags and inspect some things they bought. After a short while, they leave.

The woman is wearing a baseball cap, somewhat obscuring her face. The man notices that I am observing them. They are mainly sitting and talking with each other. They seem to be very comfortable with each other. They keep looking at the lower level of the mall through the glass balcony. Eventually they leave.

Three little boys with shopping bags are looking over the balcony. Their age range must be between 8 and 11 years old. They look over the balcony for a while. Two of the boys talk to each other and then leave. They seem to ditch the other boy. The ditched boy notices he is alone, and walks away.
Throughout most of my time here, there has been a woman standing with a baby cart, talking on her cell phone. She just slightly rolls the baby cart back and forth while talking on her cell phone. Now she actually pushes her baby cart away and leaves. She probably noticed me observing her. The woman actually comes back for a while. She leaves again. She is still talking on her phone.
A group of three girls (blonde, brunette, redhead) are with the blonde girl's parents at a bench. The blonde and brunette stand up while everyone else sits on the bench. The blonde and brunette are very physically affectionate with each other. They hug and play with each other's hair. They also keep going back and forth between buying food and eating it, and standing and talking with the seated members of their group. The girls seem to be happy, having a good time. The brunette seems interested in what I am writing. I should leave now.

Now she actually pushes her baby cart away and leaves. She probably noticed me observing her. The woman actually comes back for a while. She leaves again. She is still talking on her phone.
A group of three girls (blonde, brunette, redhead) are with the blonde girl's parents at a bench. The blonde and brunette stand up while everyone else sits on the bench. The blonde and brunette are very physically affectionate with each other. They hug and play with each other's hair. They also keep going back and forth between buying food and eating it, and standing and talking with the seated members of their group. The girls seem to be happy, having a good time. The brunette seems interested in what I am writing. I should leave now.

Labor Day at the Mall

Location: Mall
Time: 2:20 - 3:20
I am sitting in a "rest" area of the mall. There are many stores surrounding this area, mainly fast food to the right and farther ahead. Many families are walking through this area. There are different sorts of people sitting at the benches in this area.The people walking in this area are wearing all sorts of apparel.
Considering the hot weather, a majority of the people are wearing short sleeved shirts. Jeans pants/shorts seems to be the prevalent fashion choice today. There are some women wearing spandex pants, and some men are wearing workout pants.
The mood is calm, for the most part. Everyone seems subdued. No one is yelling or excited. The kids on the bottom floor in the play area are yelling and screaming, though. One would presume they are having fun.
Right ahead of me is a man and a woman, seemingly husband and wife. The man is talking to the woman, and she seems amused by his words. To my left is a woman, a teenage girl, a little girl, and an older woman sitting on a bench. There is a teenage boy standing in front of females, talking to them. The teenage girl girl seems interested in the teenage boy. The teenage girl keeps running her fingers through her hair when she looks up at him. The woman and teenage girl seem to be entertained by the teenage boy. The woman gets up and leaves (after giving me a look) and the teenage girl stretches her body out. The teenage boy sits next to the teenage girl.
Now the teenage girl is laughing and blushing at everything the teenage boy says. They are showing each other things on their cell phones. The little girl seems bored sitting next to the teenage girl. They leave after a while.
To my left is a young woman with a baby carriage. She is looking over the balcony at the play area for the children to play in on the lower level.
Four military men pass by. They are wearing civilian clothing, but have their military backpacks strapped on. They survey the area before they head off to their destination.
Many of the groups of people/friends are of the same ethnicity. I have seen a few mixed groups, though.
There is a couple sitting across from me, a young woman and a young man. They are sharing a meal with each other. The young woman is feeding the young man. They seem to be very happy with each other. They seem to be enjoying the food, too (whatever it is that they are eating, it looks good). After finishing eating, the young man examines the box the food was in.
