Rudeness

This week there seemed to be many unhappy people who decided they wanted to take out their anger on us the employees who do not make the rules.
First of was a lady who was complaining over a prices. To begin with the lady orders a children’s meal and want a discount that we cannot make possible because the discount is only available after four in the afternoon. After the lady argued for what seemed to be an hour she ended up getting the discount because the manager did not want for her to put a bad review on hour store. After the lady received a discount that she wasn’t supposed to receive she went sat down and begun to eat her meal with her daughter. Since I was trying to pay attention to the things that people do in my work place I noticed that the same lady was speaking on the phone but the conversation she was having was not very nic. The women was stating that we were very rude to her and wanted to charger extra and that she wasn’t dumb she had seen the advertisement that stated that there was always a discount. Technically she was wrong, so maybe she was dumb. After the lady and her daughter were done with there meal they decided to ask for refills on their drinks. The problem was that they did not order fountain drinks they ordered what we call the signature drinks which are not free refills. When we told this too the lady she began to scream and use very bad language towards us. The manager who was working somehow stayed very calm and offered her a fountain drink but she refused stating that she did not want that. She then decided to throw her cup at the manager who was speaking to her luckily she did not hit her but all the ice and what was left of her drink was spilled all over the floor. I then noticed that the people who were standing in line behind her began to laugh and make fun of her. One man got angry and told her that she should not be doing that but it seemed like she did not care what others thought of her. After she did that the manager asked her to leave or she would call the cops. The lady then quickly grabbed her daughter who was standing next to her the entire time and left. The messed up part of all this was that she called our corporate offices and put a complaint to on our store saying that we were rude.

I noticed to very bad things about this lady one was that her parenting skills were not very good because with the show that she put she taught her daughter very bad manners. Another thing that I noticed was that she was very rude no matter how mad you are about a price one should never try to throw things at employees because they do not make the rules, they only enforce them.

On another day that I was making observation I noticed that there was a drunk man in a booth, it was about six in the morning and it seemed like he had not slept in a while. After sitting in a booth for about ten minutes he decided that he wanted to order something, but when we told him that we did not sell breakfast he became very angry and began to scream luckily there was a couple of police officers in the gas station that is connected with us and the man was arrested. He was not as violent when he saw the cops and realized that he was getting arrested.

Stereotypes

During week two I tried to pay more attention at what people actually ordered during the rush hour. By the end of the week I would try and guess what people were going to order and many of the times I was correct.

One group of people that I could usually tell what they were going to order were the middle age women who looked like they were on lunch from work these women were usually dress very professional, usually in skirts or slacks and most of them in heals. This group’s favorite menu meal were the salads with a lemonade. I also over heard one large group of women talking about exercise which led me to believe that they were trying to watch their weight. I found this somewhat ironic because they are trying to live a healthy life but they still decide to go eat at a fast food restaurant. What I found very humorous was that the next time that I saw that same group of women visit, about a third of them decided to give on the diet and they ended up ordering a burger with fries.

Another group of people that I can usually tell what they are going to order are the older the older Hispanic people. I myself am Mexican and I know my parents do the same thing so I find it very funny that they only order from the dollar menu. Usually this group of people will ask for the “dollar burger” and the “dollar spicy chicken burger” but we do not sell that one and they end up getting mad because we are not McDonalds. After they order from the dollar menu they end up paying with a big bill which leads me to believe that they are just stingy. When this group of people decides order something outside of the dollar menu they usually decide to order as they call it “the chicken burger” but in Spanish of course. Which is annoying because we sell about 5 different chicken sandwiches.
