Fall Weather, Smiles, and Coffee

It’s a pretty fair day today, not too cold and not too hot. Its about one o’clock and the corner café is booming. There are a lot of people siting and sipping their coffee and talking. There are not a lot of people who are doing homework or studying, mostly people are just socializing. This is the first time in a while that the café hasn’t been full of studious students.
I am sitting at one of the tall tables because when I came in there were no other seats open. In front of me, a long line of thirsty people waiting to order their coffee. There are about seven people in line patently waiting to place their order. To the left there are about five people standing and waiting for their name to be called. I always found it interesting how patient people get when it comes to coffee shops. Coffee takes a long time to make, especially when there is only one machine and two workers. But people always wait in line and wait however long it takes until they get their drink. Even if they get upset because of how long it takes, they still come back for more.
Further to my left, there are five people speaking sign language to each other again. This time, the man who was learning sign language wasn’t there, so it was just that group of friends that meet here a lot. They always seem to have such lively and exciting conversations because they are always laughing and smiling and just look so happy. I have a feeling that they are telling jokes to each other or something because they are laughing so much.
Across from where I am sitting, in the quiet corner, there is an adorable little couple smiling, drinking their latte’s, laughing, holding hands, and just talking. There is another couple to my left in the comfy chairs. They are also smiling and leaning into each other. I think the fall weather is working its magic on people and making people generally happier.
The weather is also probably another reason that people are coming to get more coffee. Specially to get hot latte’s and teas and all of the fall/winter flavors. I know that I have been coming a lot more as soon as pumpkin spice came out again. I asked one of the baristas if they have more sales during fall and winter time and she said yes because everybody loves the seasonal flavors. She said that ever since it started getting colder they have been a lot busier, especially at night. I might try coming at night to see the difference between day life and night life.
A group of middle schoolers just walked in. There have been so many of them on campus lately because of all of the tours around campus. It’s pretty funny that of all the places, teachers would take their middle school kids to a coffee shop. When I was in middle school, almost nobody drank coffee, and now I see kids drinking large latte’s by themselves. It’s crazy how society changes. Most of the kids just got Frappuccino’s. In my opinion it is because of one thing… SUGAR! Those kids are going to by hyped up for the rest of the afternoon.
Well, that concludes this week’s adventure at the Corner Café. Next week I will definitely be coming at night to see the hustle and bustle of Corner Café… at night.
