Happy Cafe

Today was a very warm and sunny day after all the rain. There were many people sitting outside and enjoying the weather. It was the around lunch time during the busy rush hour as people came and went with drinks and containers of food. Almost every table was filled on the inside so I decided to go outside and enjoy the weather like the others. It seemed like a very happy atmosphere. Everybody was talking and laughing. I am the only sitting by myself actually. To my right is the smoker side of the outside patio. I small group of four people composed of all white males sat and loudly spoke about their college experiences at the dorms as they smoked. All but one of them smoked although. I could smell the tobacco from where I was sitting, and since I've quit before it was a little unpleasant but I didnt really mind. However most people sitting this closely would think they were being too loud. Perhaps this another reason why they sit outside, to smoke and be obnoxious. Next to their table were two females, one white and one Hispanic with red hair who also had a cigarette. I couldn't really hear what they were talking about because of the obnoxious alpha males next to them but I noticed them smiling and laughing a lot (a few times they were probably laughing at the males next to them). Across on the other side was quite a few elderly people. It has brought joy into my depressed heart lately to see people who have experienced the extent of life and yet still remain happy and vibrant. Most of them wear dressed in the normal elderly apparel such as nice sweaters and track pants for the women and polo shirts for the men. One of the younger looking elderly ladies was dressed in a colorful blouse with small heels on. She had her hair done in a perfect shape and it was most likely dyed because the color was a deep brown. They too were also smiling and laughing periodically. At one point, an elderly man and his wife got up to leave the group and slowly made their way back to the car as the man opened the door for his wife. A feature not really seen in modern relationships. Once the crowd died down a little I went inside. It was much cooler in here and the music was playing louder. The atmosphere was also louder due to the amount of people. I managed to sit down next to the counter by a table that had a small girl sitting there and just staring out into the cafe. I was a little puzzled by this. And as I drank the rest of my tea I couldn't help but notice her looking at me more often. Was she observing me too? Why is she there? Should I say something, like are you lost? She looked a little confused. We sat there periodically making eye contact until a small boy came out of the bathroom and said "okay Im ready". They both ran out the door and I got up to see where they went. Both jumped into the back of a minivan and left the parking lot.
