A Controversial Issue

The classroom is a bit empty and lacks coach once again. It seems like the hell that is PARC testing is not yet over. Moments later an older looking man walks into the class who I assume to be today's substitute. Galaxy, fancy hair, curly hair, and headphones are absent today. There is not that much drinks today, but there is more soft drinks than last time. Soon after I make my observation, the sub does roll call. However, the class is quiet, save for "here" when the students names get called out. Everest and country girl start talking about some breakup drama while lady is on the phone. Green shirt explains to the sub who is not here when he calls their names. Once roll call is done the sub grabs a small stack of papers and proceeds to explain the assignment, interrupting black shirt and mustache's talk. When the sub is finished explaining, some of the students let out some comments about the work. While the tests are passed out, the groups that hang together start to chatter. Funnily enough, the sub mistakes me as a student and I have to explain to him that I am not in high school anymore. Meanwhile, tooth and sweatpants are complaining about the bell schedule. Green shirt makes a coach impression and complains to blonde girl that she could not handle having coach for 3 hours next week. This gets too loud and the sub says "keep the noise down!". Immediately after this, country girl in the big group to the left of me (consisting of her, Everest, black shirt, sophomore, and mustache) says to one of the group members "I don't have to prove myself to you" resulting in a bunch of "ooooohhhhhs!" from the rest of the group.

The next couple of minutes is the big group talking about the assignment for a bit and nothing different happens. Tooth and sweatpants talk for a bit and the green shirt blonde girl duo are maintaining a steady conversation next to me. The big group starts to talk about Bernie and Trump and Everest gets up to go to the front of the classroom to get a textbook. At the same time the sub is talking to pretty girl and lady while pretty girl is wounding up her headphones. Everest then returns to his seat without a book and makes a comment to lady before joining the big group chat who are talking about horses: "teacup" "that's like a horse name!" "teacup!". delta nununu then walks into the class with a soft drink in hand and gets the assignment from the sub and makes some small talk wit him before taking a seat in front of tooth the row over. the girl duo's conversation next time is about some kind of friend drama but I am listening more to the big group than to them. "when someone comments on a girls picture, what does that ultamtilty lead too?" inquires black shirt. this then consumes the group's topic and I observe the rest of the class. pretty girl, lady, and tooth are on their phone, delta nununu seems to be chatting on her phone and doing work at the same time, the girl duo are still talking, and sweatpants keeps sighing and stretching around. soon after the sub leaves his desk. lady sneezes at this time and 3 people (sub included) say bless you. a comment from the big group steals my attention: "she just trying to make a living" "McDonalds is always open"from what I can discern they seem to be talking about someone's mom (?). the sub then goes over to the big group and reminds me o be quiet. before he can say anymore, however, the class phone rings (its the instrumental version of the ghostbuster's theme) and the sub goes over to answer it. the sub shushes prove useless as the big group grows loud again. the sub asks "alexander te great is out right?" "mhmm" replies green shirt and the sub soon gets off the phone.

Blonde girl then picks up a plastic bag next to her and says to green shirt "I got all this paper for a project. gonna go crazy" and dives back into the friend drama. sweatpants is observing the room, not really doing anything but sighing. the sub stands up from his desk and looks at the big group whose current topic is Mexico. "go to Mexico and buy that stuff easy" someone says. lady then stands up and speaks to the sub for a moment before leaving the class. pretty girl and delta nununu are on their phones but delta nununu seems to be working on the assignment at the same time. "I've been to Mexico 5 times" someone from the big group says. "dude you've never been to Mexico Mexico" and the topic is now being mugged everywhere in Mexico but Mexico city. the subs stands up again and starts to walk around the class a bit.  tooth asks delta nununu a question which she replies "haha I always bring my book". country then ruptures my attention "so which parts of Mexico is not Mexico?". at this time the sub has made his way to the big group is standing next to them, but says nothing. to the next of me green shirt is showing blonde girl something on her phone and laughs "i like you guys. you're so easy to entertain". sweatpants then joins the girls conversation for a couple of minutes. Sophmore and pretty girl are on their phones. Lady then returns to the class and sits back down. by this time Everest and black shirt are on the topic about retiring, which the sub (still standing next to them) joins in on. tooth then glances over to the group while sweatpants sighs and lifts his arms, rubbing them a bit before making a comment to the girl duo's conversation. mustache is eating chips while the rest of the group is talking and tooth yet again glances over to them before asking delta nununu about the assignment.

pretty girl, lady, and sweatpants are still on their phone. the big group is still talking, but the sub is now quiet and stands over them. the girls next to me are also still talking. sweatpants then starts to rub his hands which green shirt mimics "stop, you're making my head hurt" complains sweatpants. green shirt smiles and ignores him, continuing to mimic him for a bit before going back to talking to blonde girl who was watching the whole thing go down. my interest shifts back to the big group, where the sub is talking about his time in Vietnam. tooth glances over to the group. green shirt to the right of me is still mimicking sweatpants and blonde girl is on her phone. tooth then turns to delta asks why shes doing her work "so I don't have to do it later, i have so much work" delta nununu replies before going back to her work. tooth glances at the big group who are now taking about taxes. sweatpants is picking at his hands . suddenly black shirt remarks "she's taking good notes", making the big group and the sub to look at me as I raise a thumbs up as a reply. the sub then makes a joke about how I am writing about how the class is not paying attention. sweatpants and delta nununu start to talk about the bad road construction near campus is, remarking that "it's like the just spray painted it black". meanwhile blonde girl is playing a video for green shirt next to me and the sub moves from the big group to delta nununu and talks to her for a bit before sitting back down at his desk.  the current topic of the big group is now about driving. the sub gets up from his desk and walks over to lady and says "that quiz not bad is it?" "aaahhh, ill knock it out" she replies while stretching. the sub then goes next ot the big group again. sweatpants is on his phone and blonde girl is still showing green shirt something on her phone. black shirt then makes a remark to country girl "you don't want to see it" resulting in a flurry of voices and I am too slow to write down what they're actually saying. the sub then walks to where I am sitting and attempts to make small talk with me before giving up (tooth glances over quite a bit during this exchange).

sweatpants keeps sighing. the big group then starts to get loud, and from what i can't tell the current topic is about amendments. in response the sub goes close tot eh group and tells them to quiet down. suddenly quiet lady gets up (she has been sitting next to the big group all this time on her phone) with her bag and talks tot he sub before leaving the class. blonde girl then asks delta nununu " hey do people really smoke on 420?" "uhhhh yeah?" this leaves blonde girl shocked as she says her dad told her this fact but she did not initially believed it. delta nununu thens tarts to talk to tooth after blonde girl finishes her story. sweatpants then gets up and talks to the sub and heads to the door; however, before exiting the room, he ties his shoes. delta nununu and green shirt start talking about smoking weed but i really cant hear them as the big group is getting rowdy. the sub walks close to the group and raises his hands "class. keep it down, some people are working" trying to eas them down. meanwhile delta nununu and the girl duo are talking about some drama happening on 420 (some guy had a seizure in class and it was his 3rd time this year). the nig group is still loud but less so than before, and they are talking about mike Tyson i think. the sub is walking around the room this time and is pulled into a conversation with delta nununu when comes close to her desk. sophomore, pretty girl, and lady are on their phones. the big groups topic is now about a rape scam in football, which eventually bleeds into them talking about rape in general. sweatpants walks back in the class at this time and sits back down in his desk.

sophomore then loudly says "men can't be raped, i mean women can't rape men" this has grabbed the whole classes attention and everyone in the room is now looking at sophomore. delta nununu in surprise says "what?? men cant get raped? waht if it was another amn?" sophomore then attemtps to calrify buy saying that its not rape unless there is penetration (i dont know if i should write about this wbut w/e; also this shit is going down super fucking fast so i couldnt get the whole extent of the drama. what basically happened: sophomore is trying to defend himself while everyone is shitting on him and honestly, the whole thing was a MESS). blonde girl gets up to throw some paper away but her eyes are still glued on the big group. pretty girl is arguing with sophomore about what constitutes an act as rape while green shirt makes comments to blonde girl: "that's rape! that's rape! i dropped like 10 IQ points". I'm not really sure who's saying what but someone remarks that "there are times when men can't get raped" Everest responds by saying "if it wasn't bad then there wouldn't be a law prohibiting it". black shirt then directs a comment to me "o she's writing pretty fast there for a second" and the group looks over to me "yeah she's a nmsu student" says the sub.the big group then continues on the subject, where sophmore is on the sophomore. "yeah according to sophomore, being drunk is consent". delta makes a joke about sophomore and asks blonde girl if she's on the shit show. blonde girl responds "yeah I'm on the shit show, I'll make a report about this". another comment from black shirt "i wonder waht shes wrote about" abd the group is still talking about rape.

however, it has lost its appeal as country girl, pretty girl, and lady are on their phones while delta nununu and the girl duo are talking amongst themselves. "give me your final thoughts" someone from the big group asks. "sophomore replies "men can't be raped. i think it depends, i think it all depends on the circumstances. if you fully do it it's rape" at this time the sub is trying to stop the talk  but the group is still going strong, now talking about consent when one party is drunk. "what if they're both drunk?" "then its not bad". the girl duo and sweatpants are cracking jokes abut sophomore and the sub successfully stops the topic, stating that it is too controversial to talk about. the group then moves on to text messages. Sophmore: "we just have 2 more minutes" "oh shit really". green shirt and blonde girl are talking about a quiz one of them has to take next period. sweatpants then removes his phone charger from the outlet and green shirt asks him "hey can you get mine too?" and sweatpants hands greenshirt her charger while that part of the room starts to get ready to leave. in the final moments of the period black shirt starts talking about he is getting booty calls from facebook and delta nununu and tooth are talking together. finally the bells rings and the students pick up the rape topic as they leave class. as i get out i hear a teacher say to the sub "how was it? crazy class huh?" no fucking shit, i think as i hurry out the halls.
