Sundays at Starbucks

Starbucks is a busy place on Sundays from the time you walk in to finding a seat. Waiting in line behind old man in line who had clearly never been to Starbucks before. He asked the barista about sandwiches and was disappointed to learn that the sandwiches were small. After he tried to make up his mind about the sandwiches for a few more minutes he let me and the rest of the line go ahead. The barista quickly took my order and got to the rest of the customers. When I found a seat it seemed like I was surrounded by students on lap tops logged into canvas . It seems that it’s a popular spot for last minute homework. The lack of conversation by students is usually only broken when the occasional question about homework is asked. However there is quite a different conversation going on between JS and Horse Girl. They loudly converse about going to the bar this past weekend. How they have had interesting run ins with the bouncer. One of the girls is from Oregon where it seems that most of the fake id’s are coming from lately. While the other had a vertical id which is apparently not a valid source of id for getting in the bar. JS and Horse Girl then talk about the new wall of shame in this bar that they both frequent. Where the bar has decided to hang up and illuminate the fake id’s that they have confiscated from under age people trying to get in. After Horse Girl leaves the conversation stops and Starbucks goes back to being the center for Sunday night homework. With the exception of the old man from line and a few other customers all of Starbucks customers are students working on some kind of homework on their computers. Starbucks is more quiet than a library for the most part with the exception of the coffee shop music and the noise coming from behind the counter. The occasional laugh from the baristas or them making the drinks of the students who are here to study. Starbucks on a Sunday is the place to be if you are a student who wants to work in peace and quiet.
