Cozy Rain, Warm Coffee, and our Future

It’s a pretty gloomy day today.. which is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! I walked into the Corner Café and I see everyone in fall/winter clothing. It’s GREAT! Everyone has long sleeves, sweaters, jeans, and just looks cozy! There were no tables open so I decided to sit on one of the comfy chairs. There are quite a a few people in here today and for the first time in a while they al have warm drinks. I think because the weather is finally not at 100 degrees, everyone is taking advantage of being able to pretend like we’re not in the desert. The coffee cups are decorated with fall designs and the atmosphere is just calming and comforting.
The music that is playing is slow and quiet, its what I would describe as “mellow” music, acoustic, no special affects and sounds, and relaxing. There are two Asian boys sitting next to me, both face timing people, but neither of them are using ear phones, so you can hear everything! I think they just don’t care because they are speaking in a different language so no one can really understand them. There is a girl to my right who is just watching Netflix or youtube, or some other type of video. there are some people studying and doing homework in front of me. No one is talking to each other, and it is pretty quiet in here except for the guys next tom me. There are a few people sitting outside enjoying the weather and it looks like a transition scene in the movies where the people are just sipping their hot drinks and staring off into space or reading a book. I’m starting to think that the Quirky Barista does not work here on Sundays, because she hasn’t been here the past three weeks when I’ve come!
Everyone with a computer has headphones in, so that they can listen to music while they work or maybe so they can watch video’s. I think that music really helps people concentrate, regardless of what old-fashion people say. I think that is why everyone who comes here to study always has music to listen to. Even when people come in pairs or groups, sometimes they still have earphones in. There also seems to be a trend in leg movement and foot tapping. There are some moments where people will tap their feet or shake their knee in sync to their music and at those moments they seem to really be focusing on either what they are writing or what they are reading. Something else that also goes along with shaking their leg or foot would be to put the hand around their chin and bottom lip or running their hands through hair on the top of their head and then stopping right before the crown of their head and just holding it there. The three people studying in front of me are great representations of these examples of concentration.

It’s a pretty boring day in the Café. I think the weather affects the atmosphere of people in here. The past few weeks have been crazy and crowded and the weather has been hot, hot, and HOT! And now it is more calm and comfortable and the weather is cloudy, and beautiful. I would also just like to point out before I leave, just some observations for thought, that the two shortest girls that have come in wearing boots were wearing flat boots with no heels on them, and the the tallest girl I’ve seen today, like over six feet tall, was wearing boots with two-three inches of heel on them. I as a girl, do not understand this at all. Also, there are two children in here, one that looks 8 and one that looks 12 and they just ordered the most “basic” drinks, i.e. Salted Carmel Latte and White Chocolate Mocha, and are currently sitting across from each other drinking and gossiping. Apparently we as a society are starting our kiddos young on being basic high school and college students. You’re welcome world.
