Friendly Gathering

Its almost noon and due to my stomach persistently barking at me to get food, I decided to go to a popular restaurant here in town and grab some lunch. I walk in to a quite restaurant with few people inside. I order my food, and find a place to sit. As I observe the people in the room, I look to my left and see a group of kids who appear to be around my age. I decide to observe them.
The group consists of three girls and one boy. Their names will be Danny, Stacy, Annie, and Victoria. The three girls are wearing blue and red shirts that say, "Bulldog Volleyball." So I quickly deduce that they are four students at a local high school in town. The four of them already have their meal half eaten. They are sitting around chatting and laughing, seeming to be buying some time. I wonder if they don't have class or they are skipping. I receive my food and begin eating. As I eat, I listen to the conversation of the group. Stacy and Annie are talking about their game that following afternoon, while Danny leans over to Victoria and asks, "When are the rest coming?" to which Victoria responded, "I'm not sure, let me text them." Suddenly the open chairs next to them made sense as they were expecting more people to show up. As time went on, the restaurant quickly began to fill up and drowned out the group of students I was listening to. Before I knew it, all I could hear was the noisy talk of the restaurant. All I could make out were the smiles and an occasional laugh. By now, the four had been long finished with their food and were just sitting at the table with empty plates. I wondered why someone would want to come join them this late into the meal. Suddenly, the group of four stood up and began to exit the restaurant. The time was 1:15 so I took that as my cue to leave as well. I gathered my things and headed towards the door were I ran into one of my friends, we'll call him Sam. Sam and I talked for a bit until I finally decided to head out. We said our goodbyes and I walked out the door. As I looked to my left, there at the outside table was Danny, Victoria, Annie, Stacy and now Sam who had just joined them. I had no idea Sam was friends with the four. Funny how somethings happen.
