Study or chat?

The lunch crowd wasn’t as big as it has been but today was the first day of the week. Two tables caught my attention; the bar tables to my left, and a group I saw last week.

There were two people to my left sitting at the bar table; a girl with short hair and glasses, and a guy with a beanie. Short begins to tap her fingers as she talks to Beanie, but the finger tapping stops and she starts talking with mild gestures. Once she finished saying what she had to say, she went back to scrolling on her computer. Beanie leans in closer to look at what she’s doing. When he leaned closer and was looking over, Short ended up leaving and Beanie ended up sitting in her seat to read her paper. Once I look over, he started to read her paper aloud. Beanie also fixed his beanie while reading her paper, making emphasis and reading with hand motions. Short came back and they ended up switching seats again. Short then begins to continue to type and read her paper aloud. I feel like Short wanted the guys feedback. Short then goes through her backpack and takes out her snacks. Short then goes to change the subject that she’s studying and goes to looking at the notecards. She then takes a bite out of her peanut butter tortilla and talks to Beanie. Short goes back to her computer and then again, back to her notecard. Beanie seems to not want to do homework but has a binder and has notecards out. Short then began to eat a tamale and begins to write stuff down in her notecard. The conversation then begins to pick up and they ponder off with the talk of astronomy.

I then saw the same group as last week; chemistry table. There was a girl in red, a girl in white and glasses, guy in grey, and Chem guy. Chem was doing his chemistry lab and then began to eat his bagel. Once he took a bite, he wiped his hands on his jeans. Chem then gets up to go get napkins and comes back down. Both girls seem to be working on school stuff as they both had their notebooks open. Grey was on his phone the whole time. Then Chem had a pencil in one and his phone in the other, slowly taking bites of his bagel while working. Red and White started to converse while Chem does his work. White was going through her phone, and then discovers a video and shows the whole group. This caused laughter to arise. Chem finished his bagel and once he did he stuck a lollipop in her mouth. Then slowly one by one everyone left.

There wasn't as many tables filled as I expected there to be but there is also less contact made with strangers from others which is sad.
