Munchies with Muerte & La Llorona

Saturday, 9:28 a.m.- I approach the event site on main street. As I walk in I see 2 men, one in his 30's the other about 55. They are walking together with burritos in their hands and chatting. They make their way around me to a table under a canopy and sit to enjoy their breakfast. I hear them say something about "the bible". Not necessarily anything religious but more in a factual manner. Once they dig in to their burritos, not much talking is done. As I head on, I see a hispanic couple in their 60's. The female is walking a foot or two ahead of him, as if to be in a hurry or perhaps maybe even peeved at the male. I can't assume either way. Together, yet not. Behind them, I see 2 Men in in their 60's. One is holding  a coffee in his hand and the other gentleman is walking with a bag of caramel pop corn so large, the top is hanging past his forehead. He has a big, satisfied grin on his face. A man in his late 30's is pushing a stroller. He stops to split donuts with a 9 year old girl that is walking with him and the toddler sitting in the stroller he is pushing. A woman in her early 30's walks with a black and white chihuahua. A second woman, about the same age, is struggling because her two 2 golden retrievers are being agressive and seem to want to eat or fight the chihuahua. The chihuahua lady just smiles nervously and moves on. The lady with the ornery dogs continues to struggle and scolds her retrievers.
9:46- Down the way are 3 men playing their guitars.
They are about 35, 45 & 60 years old. The 60 year old didn't seem to fit in or meld very well with the other two because he is having issues keeping up. The younger two are being patient and are trying to guide him so they still manage to jam. There is a woman in her mid-thirties, checking out pastries at a table that a local bakery has set up. An unkempt man in his 50's bumps into the woman as he walks by her nearly knocking her sideways. The man smiles and apologies but she looks annoyed and carrries on.
9:52- I begin to head west down an alley where a series of tables and canopies are setup.
I run into my friends Tom and Andy and they are with a small group of friends. With them is April who I have met before and a couple of friends who are visiting from out of town named Ben and Leslie. Andy says he's thirsty so we head to a table selling aguas frescas. Andy buys an horchata and Tom buys a cucumber mint water. While at the table, Andy recognizes a couple of friends he knows from the local theatre. They chat a bit and I'm introduced to Donna and Larry. They're in their late 40's, holding hands and seem to be enjoying themselves thoroughly. Donna has a few items in her arms that she purchased that morning and she and Larry are very cheerful. After meeting and talking for a bit they head on their way and we continue on ours.
10:11-  A pair of women in their 50's are at a table covered in wacky buttons, magnets and other artwork. They select a few and purchase them. A male in his late 30's to early 40's tends to them. He asks them if they would like their items in a bag. They do and he proceeds to unfold a small paper bag that has artwork on it as well. He bags them up, hands it over and they head on their way. Andy is pointing out a few that he likes and contemplates buying the lot. He decides maybe next weekend and we make our way to a donut stand. A woman in her 50's and man in his 60's are tending the stand. She's handing out samples to people as he flips donuts inside of the fryer. A woman in her 40's takes a sample for her 3 year old. The donut lady warns her that it is fresh and may still be hot. The customer cuts the donut in half and begins blowing it to cool off, then feeds some to the baby. Nearby, I notice a woman with 3 kids walk as they eat chips. Another woman near her is checking out watermelons at a fruit stand. Another woman with a brown poodle is strolling near by.
10:33-I run into into one of my film professors walking don't the street with his wife. He introduces us and talk about the event and film for a bit. We say goodbye and all continue on our way.
2 women in their 20's check out custom grills. They ask the attendant about a price on a grill with an NMSU logo welded into it. Down the way a couple couplein their 50's  with a poodle puppy are stoppped by a woman in her 30's who is completey taken by the puppy and it's cuteness. We continue down the road and have made a full circle. There we see the three guitar players and they seem to have synced up quite nicely. They're playing loud, confidently and people are beginning to gather around to listen. I hear the main guy say, "Thank you y muchas gracias!"
to a listener just as they throw tips in their guitar case.
10:52- I approach a building at the end of main street. There is an art display of sugar skulls and Dia de los Muertos art. There are various vendors selling Santa Muerte figurines and La Llorona memorabilia. This seems to be my cue and literally the end of the road, till next time.
