Walking to my field site, it started to become really hot outside and I could tell that my field site was going to be full of people because it was nice and cool inside. There were many people with their friends, catching up on life and talking about class. Then I saw a few students by themselves, trying to focus and get in a few study hours before the rest of their day goes on. There were three girls sitting right next to me that decided to come to this building and study together. Well every 2 minutes these girls would look up at each other and start making small talk and then when the conversation died they would look back at their books and start studying again. This whole process went on for about the whole hour I was here.
There was a group of five people that were hanging out and taking up a lot of space. They were the ones that took all of the comfortable chairs and were small talking the whole time. At one point they were talking about the pink out game and it got me thinking about if I am going to be able to go or not. At this particular field site, I always love to see who ends up walking in because of different stereotypes. During the middle of my study, a group of white girls walked and were talking about all of their boy problems. I couldn't help but overhear everything they were saying and just laugh about all the drama that was going on in their lives. This is probably one of my favorite field sites to go to just because of all the interesting people that come in to hangout with their friends.
