Loading the Bus

It is midday Thursday the 16th. This week has been a very exciting week for the band indeed! Today the band leaves for an out of state performance in front of an incredibly large crowd and the vibe today is extremely alive to say the least. As final preparations are being made in order for the group to leave the city, a certain stress can be picked up from Mrs. Director, who is talking in a stern manner to a student who asked her what seemed to be a simple question.

“Can I take two suitcases on the trip?” asked flute girl. “Flute girl, we’ve been over this, ONE bag, ONE SUITCASE…I’ll repeat: ONE SUITCASE. We don’t have room for you and everyone else to bring more than on suitcase, flute girl. Now go get on the bus!” Flute girl walked away with a look of surprise on her face in the direction of the bus. It is safe to say that questions should probably be kept at a minimum and be asked to lower level people like upperclassmen.

While per diems (an allowance for meals and such) were being passed out it seems as though the only people that can pick up their money are the people in which the money is intended for. Meaning that someone can’t pick up money for another person. I picked this up by noticing that the person has to sign for their envelope. Some people seem really excited to pick up their money and other people seem to be for focused on getting a good seat on the bus. A good seat seems to be located at the back of the bus by the looks of it. It is interesting to see the levels of stress and tiredness on the faces of everyone loading the bus. Some people are incredibly frantic and are talking at fast speeds and some are really lethargic and going and doing whatever they are told and nothing more.

When everyone is finally on the bus we see that the stress and volume levels are finally beginning to go down because everyone has finally seemed to realize the magnitude and importance of this trip. They are excited to see where this will take them, where it will take the program, and most importantly where it will take them as friends and colleagues. This trip has been the thing they have been working so hard towards, this is where they find out if it was worth all the stress and work. This is where they get to see the final result on a huge stage and in front of a huge crowd.
