Insert Witty Title Here

Monday October 27, 2014

5:52pm I sit down at the conference table. It’s a Monday night and the café seems dismal. The only conversation I hear is from behind the counter going with the three employees. I see a guy ive seen here before with long hair in a braid, a girl who I don’t see as well because she is short (I only see the top of her bun), and another man probably in his late 30s. The guy with the braid is the one carrying the conversation at the moment. Coincidently, he is talking about his hair. He comments that he hasn’t gotten a haircut in 5 years. He turns to the older man, “When was the last time you got your hair cut?” The man replies with an answer “2 or 3 weeks ago” the guy with the braid then continues to explain why he keeps his hair long and what a hassle it is to go get it cut every 3 weeks.

5:58 The older man walks from behind the counter to check the merchandise up front. I see that he is wearing a café shirt, however his has a collar and he does not have on the green apron like the other two do. He seems like a manager to me. He welcomes everyone who walks in the door and has an aura about him that makes him seem official, but friendly.

6:04 a girl with long brown hair walks in the door. She looks familiar, I think she was in my art class last year. She wears glasses, jeans and a black cardigan. I’m actually really jealous of this outfit, she looks great. At the counter she orders a large sweet tea from the manager, and the short girl begins to make it. Glasses girl stands by the bar and talks to the short girl making her drink. I can tell they know each other better than just acquaintances but not much conversation is going on as the worker keeps looking at the manager. Not wanting to get in trouble talking to a friend while on the job.

6:10 Glasses girl retrieves her drink. As she walks towards the door she stops at the girl sitting at a tall table next to me. They laugh. At first they are both speaking in English to each other talking about something I know nothing about, then mid-sentence they switch to Spanish. I’m surprised at how different glasses girl sounds talking in Spanish than she does is English. In English glasses girl sounds a bit ditzy and in Spanish not so much.  The two girls laugh and continue in Spanglish. After about three minutes glasses girl makes her exit.

6:17 its still pretty quiet in here. Not much activity on a Monday. The music plays loud enough for me to hear the words Although I don’t recognize the song. It sounds kinda like soft rock or something. But up beat.
