Scary Movies & A Late Night Breakfast!

This week for week right of my field work, I'm not doing my normal field site due to the fact that I am no where near it at the moment. Well it's a little past midnight on a Friday night, and what better time to take some field notes than right now?  My friends and I just got out of the movie Ouija. That movie was so scary! All six of us are very hungry so we all decide we want to go get something to eat before we go back home and stay awake all night because, of that movie. Well what restaurant would be open right now? IHOP! As we walk in, I'd expect it to be packed but, it's not surprisingly it's sort of busy for this time of night. There's a couple other big teenager groups eating, a few elderly couples. You would think that they'd be asleep right now.

Well our waiter is a young man who seems to be very exhausted, his hair is all scruffy, eyes look heavy, and he keeps yawning as he takes us to the back of the restaurant to a big table where he sits us. The table next to us, is a elderly couple they seems to be so wide awake, although they did come in their pajamas. They seem to be having a great conversation as they are both smiling and laughing. I decide to listen in, and they are discussing memories from way back then. Talking about how they would always come to breakfast like us teenagers are doing, they would do the same thing back then as well. Then they go to the conversation about their plans for Sunday, first they must go to church and watch football suggest the man, his wife reminds him that the family is coming over for Sunday dinner.

I decide to look behind me, and I notice their is another group of teenagers although they look like high school kids. They went to my high school, they are talking about how the football team is doing good this season, and how they can't wait for all the basketball games to come. Unlike the older couple, they aren't in their pajamas they are all dressed in jeans, and school spirit t-shirts or hoodies. One of the girls shows is pajama like though, since she does have slippers on. I continue to listen to their conversation, they are talking about how fast the semester is going on. One girl says, "next semester is our last one, since we will be graduating in may it's so bittersweet!" Makes me even start to reminisce about high school, oh how I miss it.

Well I began to eat, and the same guy who was our hostess is the waiter, he still looks super exhausted as he brings out our meals. My friends asks him what time he gets off, he replies "right after you guys leave." He didn't respond in a rude way though, he apologized and said sorry for his lack of energy. How nice of him most people who are tired at work, get really cranky and take it out on everyone else. I think he deserves a good tip, so after we finish our food, and are about to head out I make sure to leave a good enough tip. Once we walk out the doors, we notice the other elderly couple still chatting, how cute.
