The Way that He Looked at Her

Saturday night at the coffee shop, as I walk in I notice that there is a good amount of people there. After saying hi to Linda while waiting for my coffee I notice that a couple walks in, they look to be around 22 or 23 years old. They sat on a booth across from me, after a couple of minutes Linda takes me my coffee and then quickly approaches them to take their order. As the guy looked over the menu, the girl looks up at Linda and orders for both of them; the guy then just looks up and gives her a smirk. As they wait for their order they begin to play thumb war, at first the guy just stares at her as she is trying to figure out how to beat him. After a few seconds she lets go of his hand and throws her hands up in the air and excitedly says “I win!!” he just stares at her and gives her a smile, before they began another round Linda shows up with their order.

I’m assuming the guy had no idea what she had ordered for him because he first looked at the cup and quickly looked up to her with a questioning face, she then smiles at him as she takes a sip of her drink. After taking a sip he put the cup down and nodded at her, then pushed his cup towards her.  As she took a sip he began to nod, it was if he was telling her it was really good. A couple minutes pass by and with hand gestures it seems as if she’s trying to explain something to him, he just stares at her with a smile. As they begin to laugh together he takes her hand and goes in for a kiss, she moves back and nods as if saying ‘no’ he quickly sits back and starts to laugh. It seemed as if she really wanted to explain a certain situation or tell him an important story and instead of paying attention he was just staring at her, admiring the way she went about her story.

He looked at her as if there was no one else around them, as if it was just them two, his full attention was on her and the smile that he had on his face while looking at her spoke louder than anything.
