A special evening with Joe

The coffee shop is very busy tonight. The front patio and the two room spaces inside are packed. As I walk in there is no sitting room. So I purchase my small cup of coffee and make my way back out to the front patio. I stand for awhile waiting for someone to leave a table so I can take a seat. Being able to sit down this evening and enjoy a cup of hot coffee and a cigar sounds good right about now after a long day on my feet at work. After standing outside on the patio for about 10 minutes a couple that was occupying a table finally decides to leave and I quickly sit down to finally enjoy my coffee and cigar and to also observe this evening. It is about 5 in the late afternoon on a Friday and the weather is just right to be sitting outside.

After sitting there for about 15 minutes while enjoying every sip of hot, delicious coffee and every puff of aromatic, hand rolled tobacco leaf (cigar). My attention is drawn inside through the glass doors to the employees inside behind the counter busy with different tasks. One employee is taking the customer orders at the counter and another employee is taking customer orders at the drive-thru window, while all the other half a dozen employees are busy preparing the orders. I also observe that the employees have gotten new coffee shop t-shirts, they previously had a light tan color shirt and now the new ones have a dark brown color which looks quite nice.

The atmosphere is quite nice here tonight, busy but very inviting and friendly. Each table is full of conversations from the partisans sitting. This is quite different than what I usually see or experience here when I do come in the evenings to the coffee shop. Usually there is at least 2 or 3 people on their tablets, laptops, or just simply studying with different text books but tonight the tables are full of friends and family conversing and having a good time over a hot cup of coffee and glazed Danish.

It was nice seeing the different "culture" at the coffee shop that night and experiencing an inviting atmosphere. It will be interesting to see if maybe its the weather that brought on the change in pace for the coffee shop or simply just a special evening. Perhaps its the autumn air or the quickly approaching holidays that seemed to bring everyone together to what seemed like the perfect evening.
