First Date
This
past weekend I made a trip up to Albuquerque, New Mexico and during my lunch at
a restaurant I decided to observe two people. It was around one in the
afternoon and we were at a fairly nice restaurant. The two people I was observing
was a man in his twenties and a girl about in her twenties as well. I will call
them Mike, and Holly. As the two entered the restaurant, Mike was being very
respectful and held the door open for Holly as well as pull her chair our for
her. As the two sat down they were greeted by their waiter and ordered their
drinks and their food. As they awaited for their food, the two began talking.
Being that they sat fairly close to me I was able to hear most of what they
were saying. Mike began by asking Holly the basic questions one would ask when
getting to know someone, such as, “What do you do for a living”, as well as
asking what some of her likes and dislikes are. Mike was very sociable but
Holly was reserved and seemed a little shy. After some more observing I came to
the conclusion that these two were on their first or second date. There was a
hint of uneasiness or shyness in both their tones of voice and there was also
some moments of silence between the two of them. As the date progressed, they
got more and more comfortable with each other and Mike began talking about his
job. He also said that he was a musician, and played the guitar as a side hobby
when he wasn’t working. The two began to talk about that as Holly said that she
was a singer, and was in her high school choir. The waiter then brought out
their food and the talking died down some as the two ate. They finished eating
and Mike picked up Holly’s check. I could tell by her constant staring, and eye
contact with Mike that she was deeply engaged in the conversation and was drawn
in by him. The two were equally attracted to each other as Mike was smiling and
laughing the entire date. Mike and Holly stood up and began to leave the restaurant.
Mike again opened the door for Holly and the two left the restaurant walking
right next to each other. Captivated by Holly’s beauty, Mike leaned in and gave
her a kiss on the cheek and the two proceeded on with their date.
