Ethnography

Owls of Cruces
Today at 6 p.m. on Friday night. I chose a restaurant of whom many like, maybe because football is shown or it may be the type of food people love here. Overall people love this place. I was told by Rachel to sit anywhere I please. I sat behind what looks like a fireman off duty. Alone, but still dressed in uniform. He looked mid twenties, clean cut, and very attractive. I figured someone will meet him for sure. 20 minutes past and still no one. I thought to myself,"I wonder why?" I laughed and smiled and thought maybe he's also completing his ethnographic field notes. It can't be because of obvious reasons. By this time I have already been served my food and every so often Rachel asked if everything was okay. Besides the man in uniform the restaurant seemed quite busy. Busy because people got off work and needed a cold drink or excited to celebrate a four day weekend. People were laughing, drinking, and watching sports displayed on many TV screens around the restaurant. The man in uniform was still sitting alone but he got very acquainted with the waitresses. The waitresses including Rachel always came over to ask him if everything was okay. Seems to me the waitresses wanted to get to know more of this man in uniform. I guess it was a good thing to sit here because I got excellent service. I wanted to stay longer to find out if the men in uniform was waiting on someone or his crew at the fire department. I will never know or cross my fingers and hope he's sitting alone next week Friday.
