Where'd they go?

I was walking into stack's pancake house as usual, the restaurant is mostly empty with the exception of skinny man with a beard, cute old couple, and group of high-school friends. each one of these groups was quiet and respectful even the high-schoolers. This surprised me considering last time i ran into high-schoolers they were loud and noisy. There were three boys Matt, Tyler, and Jake they were all relatively well dressed in long sleeve shirt and jeans, compared to joggers, bro-tanks, and snap-backs. there was one girl, Jennifer. She seemed relaxed and comfortable with the guys. She had probably known them for a long time and trusted them just as friends.
Skinny man with a beard put his tip down and left. Just a few minutes later to young men either freshman in college or towards the end of high school walked in. they wore basket ball shoes and shorts so they were probably getting back from playing ball or going to play ball. They sat down at the table skinny guy with a beard was at and started talking when the shorter one, James wiped his hand on the table and put something in his pocket. A couple minutes later the waitress came back and asked if anyone had seen her tip. James said, "Yeah i put it in my pocket so know one would steal it." so she grabbed and ran over to get the manager.
The manager came over and started yelling at the boys for taking the tip and to give it back. When the tall one Alex explained they already did he asked the waitress why she got him if it had already been resolved. He turned to the boys and told them to stay there while he figured out what to do. As the manager left  they started talking and Alex told James he was stupid and this was all his fault. James went to the bathroom when no one was looking, and Alex snuck past the manager as he was talking to a waiter and out the front. just as i was walking out the door i heard a man ask, "Where did they go?"
