Pesky Mosquitoes Invade The Evening

I return to the same plaza although this time early in the evening. I sit down on the same bench and right away notice a large family of 13, the Garcia family. A woman is giving them instructions on what to do to take a picture. The family gets on the steps of the gazebo and then prepares for the picture. Four pictures and four blinding flashes later, the family gets off the gazebo and they gather around to see the picture. I hear some laughing and a complaint from a teenage girl named Celia while they view the picture. They begin to chatter for a while and shortly after, they leave and enter a restaurant called “La Ristra”. To my left I see an elderly couple, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and their grandchild Joseph arriving to the plaza. Joseph continually asks his grandma if he can use his “Trio”. His grandma answers “wait until we sit down so you don’t drop it ok”. The elderly couple passes me and I hear Joseph mumble and complain about the mosquitoes. They reach the bench adjacent to me and sit down. As soon as they sit down Joseph asks for his “Trio” which I now know is a tablet. His grandma gives it to him and he runs off to the gazebo and sits down on the steps to play on his tablet. I then hear a “clap” which turns out to be Mr. Smith swatting a mosquito on his arm.
Throughout the plaza you can hear soft rock music coming from a café on the corner of the street. The café is full of people chattering and clapping to each song when it ends. The man singing seems to be confident about his performance since his voice sounds really relaxed and his singing is quite good. Behind me I hear some strong profanity coming from a man, I turn around and notice a young couple, the Carters walking through the plaza. The man is annoyed with the mosquitoes and he’s rubbing his arms. Mrs. Carter agrees with him and they walk into a bar called “The Space”. On the other side of the plaza a middle aged man arrives. He is looking at something on his phone. He walks through the whole plaza while looking at his phone and finally reaches his car. He gets in and I see a light in there which I suppose is his phone. I turn my attention back to the plaza and notice Mr. Smith is falling asleep. His head is going back and forth. Mrs. Smith is just quietly sitting down watching her grandson.

I sit there and continue to listen to the relaxing music until a family of four arrives at the plaza. They are the Trujillo family. The family consists of two teenagers Rosario and Rafael, and two adults, Marco and Marcela. They are clearly Mexican tourists. They are only speaking Spanish and I overheard Mrs. Trujillo say that she didn’t think the United States had plazas like these. Rosario hands Mrs. Trujillo her phone and she climbs onto the gazebo to get her picture taken. Rafael and his dad are looking at some historical markers and taking pictures of them. I hear Rafael mention that the mosquitoes are eating him. I agree with Rafael and I think I’ll go now. The mosquitoes are making a feast out of me.
