Start the week off with a cup of tea

For a Monday the café is surprisingly busy. The past few times I have visited on a Monday the café was quiet. In the background you can hear contemporary rock along with the sounds of the espresso machine. The bookstore, however, is practically empty.

To the left of me sits a young man who has his laptop open and transitions constantly from typing on his laptop to texting on his phone. He had not purchased any items from the café but had a plastic water bottle with a strange blue design on it. A man on the other side of Texting Tim also had his laptop open but was very focused on his work. This man had purchased a medium sized coffee, which sat on the left side of his computer.

As I continue examining the café's customers I spot two college aged females who sat across from each other. One of the women who had long blonde hair was very talkative and conducted most of the talking in the overall conversation. She used her hands constantly and would switch the topics from school to randomness and vice versa. The young woman, who sat across Scatterbrain, would listen or laugh to her companion’s conversation. She wore a blue baseball hat along which matched her white and blue tie-dye shirt. Scatterbrain had purchased a large red tea which accompanied her plain plastic water bottle and Tie-dye did not purchase anything from the café but would occasionally drink from her colorful plastic water bottle.

The table next to Scatterbrain and Tie-dye sat a young man and woman. Jill held in her hand an iced tea and would occasionally take a bite from her pastry. Jack sat across from Jill and held in his hand a medium sized coffee. They both appeared to be good friends and would laugh constantly throughout the conversation they both shared.

Across from Jack and Jill’s table sat two young men who appeared to be golfers. Both were dressed in polo t-shirts and wore nice shorts. One of the young men wore a Titleist hat backwards with a pair of bright yellow sunglasses. The young man sitting across from Titleist would constantly raise his left brow throughout the conversation. Titleist and Brow both had purchased medium sized coffees and would occasionally take sips from them. They seemed to be having a casual conversation, although Titleist carried out most of the conversation.

At the table next to Titleist and Brow sat a middle aged man who was heavy set, dressed in business casual clothing and appeared grumpy. Across from him sat a pretty young woman who appeared to be in her late 20’s. The young woman wore an olive green shirt paired with jeans. She had long brown hair which she wore half up in a clip while the rest hung down. The conversation between the two seemed to be about work since the young woman carried a small notepad with her and would occasionally write stuff down after the older man spoke it. Both appeared serious and neither one smiled in the conversation, especially the older man.

The older man had purchased a medium sized coffee and the younger woman had an iced tea. Olive took a break from writing ideas on her notepad and checked the time on her phone; she then began packing up her things. After Olive stood up Mr. Scrooge also stood up and asked one more question. After Olive answered the question Mr. Scrooge shook her hand and wished Olive a good rest of her day. Olive shook Mr. Scrooge’s hand, smiled back and said a gentle thank you then she left the café. After Olive left the building Mr. Scrooge stood for a while with his hand on his hip thinking deeply about something. After thinking for a while Mr. Scrooge then grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair, put it on, grabbed his phone and drink from the table then left the café.
