My
final week of observation was a fun way to go out, if I must say. It was
another day of Halloween fun, yes. When I was there and there were about four
students in each of his classes. In his second class there were four of them,
and two of them had their face painted and the other two were actually dressed
up. The two with their face painted were girls, on had her whole face painted
and the other one had only half of her face painted. One gentleman had his face
painted, as well. The two who were dressed up, one of them was a gentleman who
was dressed up all nice, like suit and tied up nice. The other dressed up
student was a girl who was dressed up like the devil’s mistress. Which made
sense because her boyfriend, who was in the previous class, was a priest.
The
class was just like the class before it. It took forever for them to get
focused, and even two of the kids got their participation points taken because
they kept talking when Mr. Ray told everyone to stop talking. The class is
doing the exact same thing as the first class I got to observe, but for some
reason I felt that this class would be a little more focused on the assignment
because the talk in the classroom was generally about the assignment. Except
for one of the group where they were talking about what smoking weed does to
your lungs. After a while of that, they
finally started getting to their assignment. I think that only about four of
the groups are actually getting things done because they understood what was
has to be done, and were prepared for this assignment. Not stuck trying to fish
for ideas, like the rest of the groups. While sitting there I guess there was a
conflict before about some guy talking crap about some girls that they knew.
One of the boys in the class was like,” I wanted to hit him so bad, because he
was talking about Santana, and then he started describing you.” At this time he
was talking to one of the girls in the class who wanted to know what was up as
well. Once he finished telling her what he heard, you could just see the change
in her whole attitude. She is all quiet now, and you could just tell that she
was completely bothered by what she heard. Walking around I got to see what the
groups were doing, and got to see what kind of creative minds that they added
to their project. Too bad I wasn’t going to be able to see what their finished
projects were going to look like, bet they were going to be good.
I was kind of interested in why so many of the
kids liked their faces painted. It was neat to see what styles they added to
their face paint. Like I have said many times before, it really shows what kind
of culture they have, and what they love to do. Still remember one girl that I
saw that her face paint was really pretty. She even did her hair, and it looked
really good. These kids have talent, they really do, and I cannot wait to see
what these kids have in store for us in the future.
