No Book Left Behind

The café has pop tunes playing in the background. The atmosphere this Friday is quiet and mellow which is quite enjoyable. The employees are keeping themselves occupied by cleaning the coffee machines as well as wiping off the café counters.

A tall girl with red hair kept in a pony-tail enters the café and gets in line to order a steaming hot drink. After Red Head Jane gets a hot drink from the café she picks a booth seat with a little table. She places her laptop, her textbooks, and her hot drink on the small table. She grabs headphones from her backpack plugs them into her computer then places the buds in her ear and shuts out the world. She begins typing an assignment and occasionally sips from her warm coffee.

To the right of Red Head Jane sit two young college students who are both females with dark brown hair. They sit separate and both have their laptops open and headphones on. The brown head girls both type fast on their laptops as well as take frequent sips from their warm drinks. One of the brown head girls purchased a small pizza and takes her last bite then places the pizza box behind her laptop.

I look around the café then switch my eyes to look around the bookstore. A friend of mine makes eye contact with me as they come down the escalator. They walk over to the café area to greet me and ask how I am doing. The young man has a book in his hand and takes a seat at a table near the one I am sitting at. He reads for a long time then gets up says goodbye to me and leaves the café.

A girl with a teal fleece jacket sits across from a man with a crimson hat and jacket. They seem to be very good friends and are having a casual conversation. Both have warm drinks that are both medium sized. They laugh frequently throughout the conversation as well as smile. They appear very happy that it is a Friday.

A girl with shiny blonde hair sits behind the girl with the teal fleece jacket. Shiny is busy working on her laptop and has headphones on which help her to focus on what seems to be an essay for one of her classes. Shiny has a medium sized hot coffee that is placed to the right of her laptop. She has not looked up once and appears focused on her paper. Every once in a while she takes a drink from her hot drink.

A young man enters who is dressed in a black jacket, jeans and wears glasses. He appears to be an intelligent individual. He glances around the café to look for a good spot to sit. After examining the open seating arrangements he picks a small table which is two tables in front of me. He looks around the café once again and then opens his laptop and begins working on a project.

Since no new characters have appeared in the café I switch my glance to the bookstore. A middle aged couple enters the store with their college aged son. All three enter the café first and order beverages. The father stays in the café waiting for their refreshments while the mother and son go into the bookstore and look at the wide selection of clothing. After the father gets the drinks from the café he enters the bookstore and looks for his wife and son. He hands his wife the hot drink and apparently the son had not ordered any items.

A young college aged couple enters the bookstore and strolls through the bookstore hand in hand looking at clothing. The female picks out a few items that she seems to like but then puts them back after looking at the price tag. The bookstore overall is not very busy which it has been super busy the past few Fridays I have been here.

Before leaving the café I look around once more to see if there is anything interesting to transcribe in my notes, then I realize that my friend who I had seen earlier left the book he was reading all alone on the small table. I then lost respect for my friend because no book should ever be left behind!
