for the family

The morning starts with the sun in the sky and a cool breeze blowing against my face. My family joins me in walking into mass this morning. We are seated a few minutes before the service starts, and we chat with one another in low voices. The service began with praise from the choir and the audience stands and sings along with strong voices. Hands lift up into the air in honor of the lord. Everyone kneels and prays along with the Father, then closes in amen, and everyone is seated.

The Father starts off the service by asking a question. " Who in this room is facing family turmoil? " No one raised their hand for the Father knew this was a personal question for anyone and asked everyone to answer the question in their head. I found this very ironicseeing as my family joined me in church today. He contines the sermon today based off of this question. Throughout the service, the Father addressed ways to solve problems within the family. The first way the father suggests on how to do this is by praying. He explains that prayer is the strongest way to mend these issues.

I found this message in so many ways important to me, especially relating to a theme in my ethnography paper. I was thinking about how this could relate to our studies in class and i thought that this could relate to customs in religion. This doesn't only apply to the Catholic religion, but almost all religions out there that uses prayer. I was able to use this as a stromg piece to back up my theme for my paper. Over the weeks i have gained a lot of information about the Catholic religion and church that is very beneficial to the ethnography.
