The Holidays Are Here.
So it is the same routine as it has been from week 1, I enter the bar and prepare for the day that has to come. Right off of the back I get four tables in a row. two of them are gentlemen who sit alone, one of the men orders a beer and an appetizer of brisket nachos while the other man orders a coke and a filet mignon with a shrimp combination. Both of the men enjoy their food and leave. The next table is a table of four people, two older adults and three older adults. It seems to be a family which consists of mom, dad, son, and if I were to take a guess probably uncle. They all order sirloin steaks and leave as soon as they are done. Once again I have noticed that people seem to come closer together when at the dinner table. The last table at the time is a couple that is rather quiet they just order their food, eat and leave.
This Saturday is different instead of having a period of time that is rather slow for business, it remains really busy from as soon as i get there to the end of the night. This has to do with the holidays getting closer, each year within the month of December and late November, we are booked with holiday parties. People around this time of year seem to enjoy being together with family and friends of course who wouldn't. Everyone seems to celebrate by going out to dinner. So throughout this time we remain busy pretty much every day.
One of the first tables I really pay attention to is an older couple maybe in their early fifty's, they order two beers and a sirloin steak. They both asked for my recommendations, which i recommended a rib eye or a new york steak, but they decided to make their own decisions. They ate their food and left.
The next table is a table of four, older friends it perhaps, the two ladies order wine while the gentlemen order beers. The table orders a family bbq sampler, which was more than enough food for them, they ate what they could and took the rest home.
The next person was a regular, his name is teddy, he comes in regularly but is a surprise to see him on a Saturday night as he is usually out of town on the weekends. He order his usual to drink, a Michelob ultra and decided to eat a sirloin steak. Two other ladies walk in and sit next to him in the bar. It doesn't take long for them to start talking and end up becoming friends. They exchange the gesture of buying each other drinks and have good conversation. The two eventually get tired and end up paying their tabs and leaving.
The last table i was really able to pay attention to, due to it being so busy, was a family of four. The family is also a set of regulars that i see in the bar quite often. The two parents both order long beach iced teas while the daughter and son order a peach tea and a coke. The parents enjoy some of their drinks before they end up ordering two entrees and sharing them between all four of them. The father has a couple more drinks and ends up leaving the bar pretty happy. I'm pretty sure i will see that family again next week. The trend i have noticed with everyone at the table is that no matter if you are family or not, everyone gets closer together at the dinner table whether it is at a restaurant or at home. I guess the table is just one of those places that seems to connect everyone together.
As usual the night is over and everyone in the restaurant is gone. The only people that remain are employees. So i began my routine of closing and cleaning so that I could go home as well.
