It's a Friday Night.
It is Friday night, I usually do not work of Friday's but today is an exception so I arrive at the bar at around 4 p.m. No one is in sight so I prepare the bar for our typical rush as Friday's are supposed to be the busiest night of the week.
It is a little slow for the first hour as everybody is still getting out of work, but as soon as it is 6:30, we begin to get a rush and people begin to come in. The first people I get, a group of four. Younger men in their mid 20's(I had to I.D. them) starting off their night right. They sit in the bar and order a tower of bud light and a round of tequila shots. they are obviously celebrating some special occasion although i do not ask. Later on a gentlemen sitting alone at the bar orders them a round of tequila shots out of generosity, the younger men then return the favor by ordering him a tall amberbock. They enjoy the rest of their drinks and continue on their night somewhere else.
The next table that walks in is an older couple maybe in their early 40's. They order a margarita on the rocks. and a wild turkey with coke. The gentleman orders a tampiquena steak and the lady orders a new york steak. They both finish their meals and order another round of drinks. throughout my weeks of field notes, i have noticed that people tend to become somewhat closer at the dinner table regardless of it being a restaurant. The different races i have seen in this bar all get closer together as a family or friends when they are at the table.
My next table is also an older couple that walks in maybe early 50's. They order two glasses of white zinfandel wine. They end up sharing a t-bone steak. They don't talk about anything special so i assume they just wanted to have a nice dinner. They finish their meals and do not get another round of wine so they head home.
My fourth table is a table of older people also in their late 40's. They are celebrating one of the women's birthday. So they order a couple of drinks around the table and they all order sirloin steaks. they enjoy their food and talk among each other. They finish all of their food and order a couple of other drinks before they leave the bar.
The last table I really paid attention too, was a table of four people. They ordered water and iced tea to drink nothing off of the bar menu. They ended up ordered a large BBQ sample to share among the four of them, which by the way was plenty of food for the four of them. They really do not finish all of the food so they box the rest of their food and take the rest of it home. They communicate mostly between themselves, there is a little conversation between us whenever i go around, but it doesn't seem like they are celebrating anything just a group of older friends enjoying dinner together. They finish everything and leave the bar.
I also had two gentlemen walk into the bar, they were sitting in a different room at a big table that was their for the night. They walked into the bar and ordered two shots of Hennessy for the both of them. They drank rather slowly just enjoying their beverage and talking among themselves. They finish their drinks and head back to their table.
I had a couple of other tables but didn't really pay attention to them as at this point we were really busy. This pretty much wrapped up the rest of the night so I began to clean and finish all of my closing duties so that I could head home.
