sudden realization

While doing some studying this weekend at a very popular school library, I realized that I was at the perfect spot to do field work at, as I had been going every weekend for the past two months at the same time.  When I finally started to look around, I noticed that I recognized most of the people that were studying there, and they were often there at the same time as well.   I looked nearby and saw that at a single table were four males that were often there, and normally studying.  But today seemed to be different, they seemed to be having a harder time studying and were instead watching a movie on a laptop.
These four males were all between the age of 18-20, and three of them were Hispanic, while the third was of African descent.  They were all somewhat similar in features, being taller, appearing somewhat athletic and thin, and had similar styles of hair and dress; just by looking at the four individuals, it appeared that they all had some sort of influence on each other such from the similarities that they each were showing.   From what I could see, it appeared that they were watching the Hobbit.  For a while, it seemed as if they would manage to get work done and study like they seemed to be trying to do, but instead they broke into conversation about who everyone’s favorite character in the film was.  This discussion started quite a debate that started off with them whispering, progressed into talking, and eventually into yelling for just a few moments.  Then just when it seemed to all calm down after a few minutes, they got into the same discussion about Star Wars.  They started arguing about how everyone in the movies die, and who is the most manly out of the group, but instead of  getting more extreme, the discussion quickly moved on to which of the characters from the Star Wars and Hobbit movies work out, and which would have the best bench press.  No one was able to decide on who this would be, but they all managed to decide that “Biblo Baggins is the weakest character of all.”  After this, they continued to make jokes about how weak he is about the rest of the movie.
Nearby was a group that was watching football on their laptop as well.  I could not tell what game was going on at the moment, but they seemed to be getting excited at different times throughout the game.  These three were much better about doing homework while watching television, and appeared to actually be getting some studying done at the same time.

A girl that was on the other side of the room from me studying I also recognized, as I had sat at a table nearby her several times before.  She was probably 19 or 20, Caucasian, and had light red hair.  She seemed very intent on her studies and I also found it interesting that she also came the same time each week.
