It is Friday evening at the duck pond and the weather is
warm compared to yesterday, with colder temperatures approaching this might be
one of our last few warm days. There are more people here than last week but
yet not as many as I usually see.
Walking down the sidewalk there is a mom, Hannah, with two
kids, Irving and Justin. She is pushing Irving on a stroller and Justin, who
looks a few years older, keeps insisting he wants to push the stroller. Hannah
lets him push the stroller but is still trying to stay within an arm reach
away.
There is an elderly lady, Kesha that is walking her dog.
They take a seat on the bench to rest for a few minutes. Kesha stands up and
instructs the dog to stay where it is. She walks and talks to a few people
passing down the sidewalk. Meanwhile the dog remains where instructed. On her
back she signals the dog and it takes off to meet her halfway.
There is a family sitting on a table eating food. It is two
parents and two kids and I believe I’ve seen them here before. They seem to
have brought homemade food from home and are gathers as a family talking while
enjoying a meal outdoors.
Across from me there is a couple fishing on the edge. There
is a young man, Liam, who seems to be very interested in what he is doing. On
his side there is a young woman, Marisol, who doesn’t seem so interested. She
looks bored and glances around a lot and quite often down at her phone.
The sun is starting to go down and I can feel the colder
weather taking effect. I think I’m not the only one that realized because Kesha
and Hannah along with their kinds make their departure.
An elderly couple shows up and takes a seat on a bench. They
pull out some food and feed the ducks and leave as soon as they’re done.
The young couple fishing also begins to pack up things and
leaves not long after the sun has set.
It seems like things really die down fast once it got dark
and my assumption would be because of the cold. I can start feeling the cold as
well and I know why they all wanted to leave. We will see if this pattern continues on the following week.
