No Falling Yet

It is a slow morning to start off the day. The sun is out but is not warming the air up as quickly as it used to. A slight cold breeze dances through the plaza. The trees are beginning to show signs of the season change with a few patches of leaves turning yellow. The sidewalk is littered with dead leaves, giving the impression of fall. If you look up at the trees though, you’ll still see most leaves are green as ever.
In the middle of the plaza, a message is written on the sidewalk. It states, “Donald Olive For Senator”. Yes it is election time on the New Mexico State Campus for both homecoming and the senate.  The public must chose who they want as representatives. Donald Olive is one of the running candidates. His message does not seem to be making any difference. Most people walk over it and don’t take the time to read it. Mr. Olive’s campaign did a good job with the location of the message but the presentation of the message was too plain for the message to stick to potential voters.
No smokers have been present since Field Note #6. That changed today. Two girls sit on the edge. Both girls are dressed casually for a Friday, a simple t-shirt and jeans. Curly Bun wears a black jacket. Smoker Girl goes without a jacket. The cold does not seem to bother her. She has a cigarette in her hand. Curly Bun listens intently to the story Smoker Girl tells. Smoker Girl makes use of her hand gestures and sends Curly Bun into a laugh attack.
Today is a casual day for Mr. Grey Guy too. He sports a grey t-shirt, shorts and a snapback hat. His summer attire contradicts the weather. Mr. Grey Guy probably lived in Las Cruces for a while or either lived in a much colder place. His body is use to the slight chilly air. Mr. Grey Guy walks along the west building. He stands outside for a while, pulls out a cigarette and smokes. A few minutes later Mr. Grey Guy leaves.
There is hardly any sound in the plaza. People are making it a point on keeping their conversation quite. Curly Bun and Smoker Girl’s conversation can hardly be heard. The only conversation that could be faintly heard is from Scarf Girl talking on her phone. Scarf Girl is sitting at one of the restaurant’s outside tables. She is prepared to face the chilly air as she wears a long white sleeve shirt with a red scarf.

A couple walks across the plaza. Beanie guy is dressed for fall with a long sleeve grey t-shirt. Sweater Girl is semi-dressed for fall. She doesn’t seem to mind the cold weather and show no signs that it bothers her. They talk louder than Curly Bun, Smoker Girl and Scarf Girl. The couple argues as they walk away. Neither Curly Bun, Smoker Girl and Scarf Girl took notice of the noise.
