It is a quite cold afternoon in the coffee shop the
employees are grateful that is has slowed down enough for them to finally get
to eat. With few people in the shop they
have time to clean up and joke around, they say that the lunch rush was crazy
and now it is dead. The three guys are working today, the owner, the manager,
and the assistant Chris. Chris is the one that takes the orders and makes the
drinks that customers order. The main manager makes the food and keeps Chris company
while they are behind the counter. The owner is off to the side in the small
gift shop running that counter but is now walking around making himself food.
As people starts coming in again more of the employees come
in starting the shift swap. The night crew seems to be the girls. They all
laugh and joke about things that they should order for the shop and what they
would use them for. They sing to the
music together while one of the girls tells the manager that she did not expect
much prep work to be done today since it was just the boys. The assistant
manager jokingly pushes her and they start laughing. The crew acts as family
more than just coworkers.
Every worker interacts with the customers on a friendly level
and even goes out of their way to learn their regular’s names. They frequently
check on the customers making sure they do not need anything and if they are
doing alright. Even though the coffee shop is a make an order pick it up from
the counter kind of place, most of the time the employees bring your food and
drinks to your table. They even have a
drop off that you are supposed to take your empty plates but for the most part
they will clear your table for you.
The employees here including the boss are very laid back,
there is no dress code and the boss lets the employees have a good time as long
as they get their work done. The workers are what make this place so
comfortable and great to be at. The environment and customers go with each
other and the workers are what make that happen.
As both the day crew and night crew are still here getting
ready for the night the coffee shop starts getting busy again with people
getting coffee and new customers roaming the gift shop the coffee shop is back
to its normal busy self. The guys from the day shift say good bye to their regulars
that are still enjoying their coffee and to the girls of the night shift. The girls
clean the tables and stock their work area to be ready for their night rush. This
is where I leave the crew of the quant coffee shop till next time.
