Another typical weekend in Las Cruces. A lot of students disappear from the campus once again. I think the kitchen staff at my field site recognized the decrease in customers over the weekend because the quality of food has significantly dwindled down.
First off, the usual variety of food shrank down to only a few items available. (Guess it's a burger once again...) Even then, my burger did not taste like it was freshly made. It had a weird flavor, the fries had no seasoning, and the meal in its entirety was extremely stale. This makes me worry about the health factor of the restaurant. It is obvious that the lack of students eating on campus causes the kitchen staff to slack on the meals they prepare. Maybe it's due to the fact that they too want to have a lazy weekend, or maybe it's standard that they serve leftovers on weekends when not as many students are on campus.
Other than the low grade food, the customers were really chilled out today. Once again, the usual attire was sweats and t-shirts. It's been apparent that students are really tired and lazy on Sundays, probably because they stay out all night on Saturday. Sundays must be a day for relaxation and homework.
