Can I get an Amen!?

It is around 11:15 A.M on a Sunday morning in Las Cruces New Mexico. I am attending Bethel Second Baptist Church for the very first time. So far there are about 30 people both male and female young and old in the congregation. The environment is very welcoming and intriguing. The demographics of this church are a combination of:  races, cultures, gender and ages.

My main focus at this moment is the preacher and the choir. The reason I am so in tuned with the pastor is because he is so energetic and enthusiastic about the message he is presenting to the congregation. His words are so dynamic and powerful, they feel as if they are penetrating my heart. It feels as if this pastor knows each and every one of our life stories.  The reason why I am so fascinated by this choir is because they are all on one accord. They are harmonizing perfectly, it is absolutely astonishing. The choir consists of middle aged and up men and women. Their voices are so strong and influential. The hymns are very spiritual, touching and uplifting.

The choir, musicians and the pastor are all working together to deliver the sermon effectively. When the pastor finishes a sentence the organist plays for a bit then the pastor gets stirred up all over again. When the pastor says a keyword the choir is sure to repeat it. I find this very captivating and creative. There is so much oomph in this place! People are dancing clapping, stomping, shouting and singing. The whole atmosphere is nothing but positive, loving and encouraging. This is definitely a new experience for me and I am enjoying every moment of it!
