 Day Five At Day Care
After signing in at the day care front desk, I walk in to the classroom of children running around loudly and having fun. Soon I was making eye contact with the teacher, her eyes were signifying that she needed me to step in and help with children. I decided to go to where these few children were drawing at a table. I asked them what they were drawing, and at first they just ignored the question due to the fact that they were interested in what they were drawing. Then, waiting for a few minutes I asked again, and they were all trying to draw and apple hanging from a tree.
Soon the teacher clapped her hands to a rhythm, and they children quickly after repeated it back and got quiet. Then, they were instructed to get into a line and the line leader was to get in front .so that she could lead the line. Today, the class was going to the library and I was to keep an eye on the four children of which that was engaging in drawing during their fun time.
When we finally made it to the library, the children were to break into groups with their leaders. I had the children to all go and pick a book of their choice that they would want to read. After about fifteen minutes of them looking they had chosen books of which they were interested in. As a group we decided to go outside to the playground and in the shade under a tree and read the books. While we walked in a straight line, the two girls were discussing why they had picked the books that they had, while the boys were talking about the pictures of action going on, on the cover of the books they had picked. We finally made it under the tree, and the children were ready to read the books they had. So first I had them to sit in a circle, they were to tell the rest of us the name of their books, and tell us why they had chose it. To make things more interesting, I had them to tell us what they though was going to happen.
After having the four children read for about forty five minutes, it was time to head back to the classroom, where we would meet back up with the rest of the children. It was time for them to endure in snack time. The snacks had already been placed on the table. What they were having for today was diced pineapples, cookies, and water. Before they could dig in, they had to wash their hands. So they all lined up and got ready to wash up.
After they had finished washing their hands, they all decided to sit at the table were their friends were. After digging into their snacks, they were all talking to each other, and having fun. Watching them and listening, I heard some of the children talking about the books they had read and how interested they were in them. Soon it was time for the children to start putting their shoes back on and getting ready to go outside and play in the little yard. They were all excited about then they realized that it was time for them to get ready to go home.
The sadness on their faces began to show as their parents started to pick them up. Some were excited about it, so that they could share their experiences of today. So each children when their parents showed up, raced to be signed out inside the classroom.
