I'm a Super Sandwich

This week, the toy store is closed for whatever reason. However, some of the guys still wanted to get together to play a new card game that came out. Earlier in the week, a card company named Panini decided to re-release the Dragonball Z card game. Star Lord and Mr. Piccolo were extremely excited for this card game because it was one of the card games they had played when they were younger. The guys decided to get together at Rocket’s house because it was a good middle point for everyone.

At Rocket’s house, Star Lord, Mr. Piccolo and myself met up there to get together to play the Dragonball Z game. Mr. Piccolo was teaching Rocket how to play the game while Star Lord was trying to build his deck. The environment of this small group is a lot more relaxed. There is no real competitive feeling in the air because everyone knows that this is more for trying out the new cards. The actions of the group still stay the same however. The guys will play their games and talk about their personal lives or subjects concerning games.

One of the subjects about gaming that came up was going to a different toy store within the city. With the possibility of toy store closing, the guys want to look for a new place to hang out. The guys seem excited about having a backup plan in case toy store does close down. They also realize that they have the option of going to someone’s house to get together and play. The problem with that is the group would be considerably smaller than it would be at the toy store.

After the guys talk about the toy stores for a little bit, they continue on with their game. Star Lord is obviously the best player. I found out that this is because he would play this game a lot when he was younger, so he remembers a lot of the rules. Mr. Piccolo mentions that he would have played the game more, but he was unable to because no one played near where he lived. Rocket is the newest player to game. He says he bought some cards because he wanted to be able to play with Star Lord and Mr. Piccolo.

The coming back of this Dragonball Z card game was able to show some more insight on why the guys love to play these kinds of games so much. They are a part of their childhood and it is what they would do with their time. Everyone has their hobbies, and these guys were able to keep their hobbies until they were adults. A lot of people look down on them and will often tell them to grow up and get over these “stupid games”. However, they are holding on to something that means a lot to them. Through these games, they were able to create meaningful relationships, and develop social skills, as Star Lord has often told me.
