Almost Isolated

On the contrary of it to be a cold day I walk into the coffee shop sweating and graciously enjoy the cool  air reaching me. I walk up to the counter to order my drink to find no one at the counter. So I stand there and wait to see if someone will eventually come and serve me. Eventually the ex indifferent employee greets me. She says hello and takes my order. I feel that she knows my order now as I have been here multiple times by know. I order my Chai Tea and sit down. My usual spot is taken so I sit in an empty table between two other tables filled with people. In order to do this I have to squeeze myself in almost hitting the guy next to me with my huge backpack. As I was waiting for my laptop to start up I was looking in front of me at the menu that had all the drinks on it. As I was doing this Nick, one of the employees moved his head to look at me. When he didn’t move enough to see me this first time he tried again and made it super obvious so we made eye contact and he quickly looked away. Maybe he recognizes me. I try to be as friendly as possible when he comes to give me my drink. He seems indifferent though so he was maybe just looking at the table number I had. A customer came from the back area to refill his coffee and we both smile at each other. As I started to officially start to type both parties next to me got up and left. So I got up and moved to the now empty table next to me so I wouldn’t be so isolated. I had moved in the time it took the man who was refilling his coffee so when he passed me he noticed that I had moved tables and had a confused look on his face. Haha. So now I am sitting next to two girls who seem to be friends. Nick the employee keeps coming around the counter to deliver the other drinks to the other customers.  He seems to be tired by the way he is walking. He doesn’t look like he has shaved for a while and is wearing a beanie and his employee tee shirt. He continues to do his work. The two girls next to me seem to be really good friends as they lean forward talking to each other. I think they are in a book group or something because they both have novels on the table and they are in animated conversation. Or maybe they both just brought their favorite books and wanted to talk about them. Two tables away from me is a girl sitting by herself but as this other couple was leaving they stopped to talk to her in animated conversation for a while before they left. After a while two other girls came in the shop and also went to say hello to the girl so I wonder who she is? A lone customer comes and goes to the counter. Both Nick and ex indifferent employee are in the back so they don’t realize there is a new customer. She stands there with a “what do I do?” kind of look on her face. Eventually Nick comes from the back to take her order and she orders a coffee to go. She stands to wait for her drink. The two new girls from earlier finally stop talking to the girl sitting down and go to order their drinks. Then they return to the girl and I cannot be sure but it looks like they are going to work on something. Oh my god I just realized they are the two girls from about 2 weeks ago? The ones who got water spilled all over her laptop? I don’t know if it is the same one but there is an exact replica of the Apple laptop that got spilled on. Another customer walks in and has a real backpacker type of look and she waits to get her drink ordered. A man enters the shop and sees one of the girls sitting in the table next to me and he recognizes her and comes up to the table. She gets up to greet him they say hello to each other. I finally find out who the other girl with her is as she says that she is her friend from out of town and they are just spending time together. The backpacker girl who was waiting for her drink also gets greeted by another customer wearing a bike helmet on his head. When they are both done ordering they sit next to each other. The place is getting rather busy and it’s time for me to go! Until next time!
