Fishing Friday

The sky is clear and the weather is nice and warm Friday afternoon at the NMSU duck pond. It appears as if work was done to clean up the pond sometime this week. There is less trash in the water, a lot less weeds as well, and the water appears to be a bit clearer.

On a table under the shade is a group of people sitting down. This is a fairly large group of people consisting of two women, a mom and grandma I believe, and 5 kids. The kids are all different ages and it seems as if they are between ages 4-12. They are getting ready to leave when I arrive and are soon gone.

On the far side there are two young women, Daisy and Flora, and a young boy, Ernie,  walking around the grass searching for something. Daisy and flora carry a small bowl while Ernie is carrying a net. It appears as if they are trying to catch grasshoppers or some type of insect or bug. I can see the women are having trouble while Ernie seems to have it easier with his net. He walks around the pond towards my location swinging his net. He then turns around and goes back and the three leave together.

A mom and her son, Helen and Garry, show up and sit on the table the large group just a few minutes ago. Garry appears to be about 10 years old and appears to be explaining something to his mom. He is standing up making gestures with his hands while his mom just sits staring at him.

On the northern side of the pond there are two men, Isaiah and Julian, fishing with a young boy, Kevin. They are sitting on chairs under a tree and I have never seen anyone fish from that part of the pond.

A young man, Luis, shows up to fish with a young girl, Misty, who seems to be about 6 years old. The set up by the bridge and after a few minutes with no luck, they move to the other side.

A young woman, Nancy, arrives and takes a seat on a bench. She is looking down at her phone and occasionally glances around the area. It appears as if she is here waiting for someone to show up.

Julian gets tired of the spot he was fishing in and starts walking around the pond casting his rod in new locations. He just walks with his rod and left his chair and gear behind in the previous location.

Luis and Misty also start walking around the pond fishing in new locations. Misty seems to be very happy being there with her dad and she never leaves his side and is watching his every move. Luis gets his hook caught in some weeds and Julian goes over to help them and gets it unstuck.

By the time I left Nancy was still sitting on the bench and no one had showed up to meet her. My assumption might have been wrong or the person might be running late.
