Bagel Hour

Today I have decided to move my field site to another site similar to my last. It is similar but has only two restaurants, Skillet 360 and Newton Bros. There is a total of 7 people here including myself. Excluding myself there are two males and four females. One of the females appeared to be doing homework on her computer. After about 5 min she packs up her things and leaves, it is currently one o’clock. Only one person in the room is eating food, it is an Arabian man. Everyone else appears to be doing homework. The other man in the room is wearing shorts and a pink shirt, which I assume is for breast cancer awareness. He leans forward and I see that it is indeed a breast cancer awareness shirt. He is drinking coffee, three other patrons in the room are drinking what appears to be soda. There is a very old fashion clunky tv in the room that one of the female patrons is watching, from my vantage point I cannot see or hear what is going on but I believe it was on the news channel. She then hears her name called at Skillet 360 saying that her food is ready. The Arabic man has now finished his food, grabs his backpack and leaves the area. One Hispanic girl in the booth in front of me listens to Hispanic music while she does homework, as I passed by to refill my soda I see that she is doing chemistry homework. Another girl in the room who was working on her computer has gotten thirsty and goes to grab something to drink. She decides to go to Newton Bros to get a coffee and she also gets a bagel. Like one of my last posts, it is very calm again during this time. It seems these places only get busy between these two times, I shall note that for future observations. One of the workers begins to clean empty tables, of which there are many. She then begins to collect the trash bags from the three bins in the room. Only one female in the room wears shorts, while the rest wear pants. The one guy in the room is also wearing shorts. As I look around I notice the overwhelming amount of people who wear glasses. Only the female in shorts does not wear glasses. Most students have backpacks with them except for the girl doing her chemistry homework, she has a large purse with her that she pulled out her chemistry notebook from. I take a quick restroom break and return to find that another woman has entered the area. She is in pants and a sweater and appears like she did not order food or get a drink. She just sits at one of the tables and gets on her phone. One girl across the room puts on a very old model of headphones to listen to music on her phone. The room is very quiet, all you can hear are the humming of the coolers that are in the room.
