Breakfast

I’m definitely a breakfast person, by far my favorite meal of the day. I went home this weekend and my mom and I ended up going to our favorite breakfast place, Village Inn. We used to be regulars there so all of the waiters/waitress’ knew us and our orders. This is kind of sad, I know I know. It seem to be more packed than usual, there were plenty of people there on the morning we went.

I know almost all of the people that work there. There were a few new unfamiliar faces but I knew everyone for the most part. My mom and I both decided to try something different this time. Our waiter was definitely surprised when he came and took our orders. It took some time for our food to come out because it was so busy, which is understandable.

While waiting for our food I was looking around to see if I saw anyone I knew. There were so many people there and I didn’t seem to know a single soul in there but my mom and the staff. I did notice that all of the staff was a little stressed out because it was so busy. You could tell that the customers were a little irritated because the staff was letting the rush get to them.

There were several families and a few dates, one huge party with kids in basketball uniforms at the end of their table. Although these parties were all so different they all seemed to do one thing the same. All of these parties seemed to be irritated with the staff. Not only were they irritated they made sure everyone else knew they were irritated. Most of these parties had already put in their orders except for the really big party.

After one of the servers took the big parties orders a few of the adults from the big party rolled their eyes and exchanged words about their server. I noticed that most of the other parties did this too. As soon as the server left their table they were annoyed and either whispered something to whom they were next to or across from. But only once their server was gone did they do this. Why is that we can be rude to the staff with no hesitation?

All of these parties seem to blame the rush and slow service on the servers. In some cases it might be the servers that are causing the slow service but you could tell it wasn’t the servers. None of these parties ever said anything to the servers, just about them. It was almost every party in there that did this as soon as their server left. You could just see the irritation on both the servers faces and the customers faces, yet neither of them were doing anything to help the situation.
