Thursday Night Countdown
It's Thursday I enter the bar to an empty wasteland, always typical upon my arrival on a Thursday evening. it is somewhat of a short shift today because we close at nine today instead of ten on the weekends. what makes today really interesting is Thursday night football. i always get a crowd around kickoff time which starts about 6:30. it is always interesting to notice how people act when a game is on.
6:30 the game has officially begun and a small crowd appears in the bar of the restaurant. no one in particularly rooting for the teams that are playing(which were the packers and the vikings) but it is always fun to still watch fanatics. two guys sitting in the bar, both of them came alone just enjoying the game while drinking a few beers. the two obviously have different opinions with the game. they both discuss typical things about football like who their team is, which one is better, typical trash talk. a slight argument occurs whenever they disagree on s subject like which quarterback is better than the other, little things like that. they don't last very long as one of them gets annoyed with the other and decides to leave. He pays out his tab and heads home.
It is about 7:30 there is a little more people in the bar than before, most of them watching the game, the rest interested more into whatever conversation is going on at the table. A table of about six people sits in the middle of the bar, office friends out have a nice dinner with each other. they all are still carrying their laptops with them, it seems like it was a busy day for them. they order all steaks and one of the guys decides to pay the entire tab for the table. A very friendly gesture i suppose. What is it about being acquaintances with a couple of people that makes you change the way you act and how friendly you are? I guess just the basic fact that you know the person. The whole group seemed to get along quite well, they spoke to each other with such respect at all time they kept it real professional even though they aren't in the office anymore. I guess that type of attitude sticks to a person over time. They end up finishing their food and leaving before the game ended as they had other important things to do.
Another group of friends sits in the corner of the bar drinking and watching the game too. Not one single table has had something to drink that doesn't have alcohol in it. Does watching a football game really make you drink alcohol or do all my tables just feel like having a drink or two today? It is uncertain to come up with a conclusion on that i would have to wait till next Thursday night to see if people ordered nothing but drinks again to see if the game really made people drink, Regardless of that everyone seems to be having a really good time hanging out and watching the game. The game also keeps people at the bar longer, people would be finished with everything but would decide to stay just to see what the outcome of the game was. It was kind of funny because as soon as the game was over, everyone left knowing the outcome.
It was a Thursday night and i worked alone tonight so i decide to begin closing the bar and try to head home early just to conclude a long day and night that still lied in front of me due to homework. everyone leaves and begin my closing process and head home.
