                                            Daycare Day 7

When I entered the classroom, there are multiple classrooms mixed in one. There are many children outside, as well as inside. I notice three children playing together, two girls and one boy. They’re all playing at this small table with legos. With these three children is a helper. One of the girls ask her to help her build a house out of the legos. When she helps the little girl, the boy starts to throw a fit, to get the helpers attention.

The day prior, the kids had made bones out of clay. They got to make anything the wanted, but after they had made hem, they had to let them dry for a day. So when the teacher brought them out, the whole class huddle around the table to see how their bones had turned out. After they received their bones, they were told that they could color them if they wanted. Since the children are busy coloring, the room gets a little more quiet due to them focusing. The teacher is going around taking pictures of the children enjoying coloring their bones, most of them are posing because they love them so much. Some of the kids weren’t in attendance the day prior, they don’t have bones, so they’re playing in centers.

The lead teacher cuts the lights off, which signals to the children that it’s candle time. He children slowly come to the circle without being asked. Then the teacher ask the rest to come that didn’t get the hint when the lights were turned off. Everyone is sitting down, one boy stayed at the table still drawing on his bone, ignoring the teacher. The rest of the children sitting in a circle are quiet, and they listen to what they are hear. Then, after a few minutes they start to shout out what they hear. After they have settled down, they start to do yogo moves to calm them down. While the children are doing what the teacher has told them to do, another boy joins the boy that is coloring the bone, and starts to color his. This keeps them very quiet.

Then, the children are told to clean the classroom. They are all helping except the two boys. One of the boys comes over to me to ask if I wanted to help him color, but the teacher tells him no. The other child that was coloring with the boy is told to put his bone down, but instead he started to throw a fit. Soon another teacher gets involved and he starts to help clean. The classroom is a little loud, but they are happ to be cleaning. Two of the children a boy and a girl have a big board, and starts pretending that it is a vaccum as they go around the room making noise.

The teacher starts them on singing a song, it tells them to touch different bones. This song helps them to learn their bones in their body. A child keeps telling the teacher he cannot touch anything on his body. Then they sit down, and are taught a song called “Baby Sheep”. The children are all catching on very quickly. The teacher gives them a compliment, due to them saying their words very clear and understanding. Then, it is time for the children to start acting out their plays that they have wrote in their notebook. They are all so interested in acting. They are all just having so much fun.

Two of the children are picked to help with the snacks. Today, it is two boys, while they are helping the rest of the kids are playing a game. They are to hide a bone, and someone has to find it. whoever is in the chair goes to wash their hands for a snack. Today, for snack they are having oranges, peaches, cookies, and water. While they are finishing the game, some of the kids have started their snack. All of the children are at the table, they are all sitting by their friends. They are all talking to each other. Soon their parents start to come to pick them up. They sign themselves out happy to leave.
