Negative Vibes

It is eight a.m. at the basketball arena on a chilly Saturday morning. It's clear that fall is finally creeping it's way into the city air which is a nice change considering the blistering summer days we had this year so the temperature getting below eighty degrees is definitely something to celebrate.
The band was expected to be in the building at eight and they seem like they are in poor spirits this morning because Mrs. Director was misinformed of the time. Because it is game day the group would normally be expected at rehearsal at ten thirty so the two hour difference was proving to be difficult for the normally lively group. Trombone girl, dressed in school colors and holding a cup of coffee seemed to have been happy with her early morning caffeine fix and looked to be one of the more upbeat characters of the bunch. Tuba Dude, a boy with glasses looked annoyed with the people around him, was dosing off in his seat only to be rudely awoken to the sound of pop music playing through the loud speaker. Such music, I am assuming, was being used to liven up the half asleep spectators finally arriving to today's events.
Down on the floor, Mrs. Director was having a talk with Mr. TA and the dancers were smiling their best smiles for the students walking down the stairs to their seats. Up towards the stage there was a guy strategically taping various banners up on their stands, this guy is probably a perfectionist considering the fact that he was doing this job for what must have been about fifteen minutes.
"Alright guys, lets start walking down onto the court." Mr. Whitegloves says in a loud, projected voice. A few moments later the band rises from their seats and began following the instructions that were given to them. Once they were on the floor, Mrs. Director begins placing each section (by instrument) in neat rows towards the back of the court. This takes about ten minutes. When everyone was in position the drums plays a loud tune and got most everyone in the band dancing in a wild way which was a big shift in mood compared to what they were like at the start of the morning.
When everyone that was expected this morning took their seats, a few speakers made speeches about the pros of attending the school and then the band played a few tunes to entertain the crowed and to attract prospective students to join the program when they could. The main speaker then thanked the band for their performance and was now excused to leave. The band was then lead to their rehearsal space, angrily at that as it was thirty minutes too early. This turn of events made for a rough rehearsal because they were hungry and because Mrs. Director spoke to them in a negative fashion the whole morning.
It is interesting to see how the mood of one person can affect the rest of the group. This morning seemed to be nothing but negativity and it proved to affect the group's ability to work at their best and in a positive manner. It really makes me wonder how a positive demeanor would change the outlook of the group.
