Midnight Tattoo's

It was Friday at midnight and Scott decided to tattoo someone to get into the Halloween spirit. So we all ended up meeting at the DNA Tattoo shop around 12:15. I took over some taco bell for everyone. Once I got to the door I saw this tall guy with long black hair dressed in all black. At first, he gave me the chills but once we began talking he seemed like a pretty nice guy. As soon as Scott got all the equipment he called us over to begin the session.
As he began tattooing this guy, I asked, "Why an Owl with a skull?" He then responded, "I always liked that owls are creatures of the night and are always watching and always know what is going on. They see more and control more than we can." Owls can represent many things depending on your culture. Some owls can represent wisdom, knowledge, safety, or death.
As I looked at his outline, the owl was carrying a skull. I then asked him, "Why is he carrying that skull, does that represent anything important for you?" He then replied, "basically the owl holding the skull means that he is the keeper of spirits, good or bad. Whether they are bad, it keeps them away, or if they're good it keeps them near by. It can also mean passing of a tough obstacle in life. As for the meaning, it is important to me for my deceased family members to remain close to me, since I have short memories of them.
Once I heard his meaning toward owls it made me think of all the people I know that have owl tattoo's, and all I know is that this guy has a really special actual meaning to the ink he is getting. I see many people that get them because they're cute or they're what's trending, but it's nice stumbling upon someone that follows their beliefs or their culture.
