It is Friday afternoon at the duck pond. The skies are a
clear blue and there are a few clouds in the distance. There is a light breeze
that helps cool you down in the hot weather.
There is a canoe in the water again today. Two of the
people, Joe and Ashley, are the same as last time. There is a new person with
them here today, Bill. Bill is an older male riding in the back of the canoe
and seems to be the person in charge. The three are going in circles around the
pond making small laps. The three are wearing matching life jackets that are a
crimson color, which makes me believe they might be practicing for a university
event.
On a table there is a man, Arthur, with a little girl, Ally,
dressed in pink from head to toe. After a while they move to the edge of the
water and Ally plays with a stick in the water.
A man wearing a small backpack, Cody, shows up to fish and
sets up over by the bridge. He seems to be sick as he keeps coughing repetitively
and I can hear him from the other side of the pond. After a while of fishing
with no luck he moves over to the opposite side of the bridge.
Joe, Ashley, and Bill seem to have gotten tired and get out
of the water to take a break. They take a seat on a table at the edge of the
water.
Off in the distance you can see people running up and down
the hill of the Aggie Memorial Stadium. They are wearing work out clothes and
you can hear music as well, probably for motivation.
The construction seems to be progressing at a very slow
pace. All the vehicles are gone and the ground dirt is now flat. I’m a little
shocked to not see anyone working here on a Friday during working hours still.
Occasionally students pass up and down international mall
with backpacks, probably getting out of class. By this time in the afternoon
most are probably done for the week.
A couple, Bob and Bertha, show up with a little girl, Sally,
and sit on a bench. Sally appears to be around the same age as Ally. Sammy is
very happy seeing the ducks and is giving them food her parents gave her. After
a while Bob takes out a camera and starts taking pictures of his daughter. The
couple seems to be very happy watching Sally. They also seem to be cautious of
her not getting too close to the edge of the water.
