Into the Ice Bucket

It’s a Sunday afternoon at the pool. Nine people occupy the area split into two groups. One group is a group of 2 girls and 3 guys. As they sip their beers they laugh and converse about the Aggie football game from the night before. One girl has platinum blonde, straight hair. She wears a colorful bikini and a glittery bracelet on her right arm that she keeps fidgeting with while she sits on the edge of the pool. Her friend has dark brown hair and a darker skin tone. As she talks I can detect some sort of accent. Mexican? Or Puerto Rican? This girl as well has on a bikini but hers is all black. They both sit out side of the pool letting their feet dangle in the water and the sun tan their already golden skin. Three boys wade in the water. One leaning on the concrete wall and the other two laying two inner tubes. The five of them look as though they may be in their early twentys; enjoying their college life to the fullest.

At this time two new occupants open the gate. Two girls. One tall, the other short. They carry towels and are already dressed in their swim attire. They lay their towels down on a chair and head straight for the hot tub. They slide their sunglasses don to cover their eyes from the sun’s rays and sit down in the warm water. They tall girl wears Rayban’s while the short girl with curly hair wears big sunglasses that cover most her face.

On the other side of the pool four people sit in the shade at a table. One girl and three guys. They all look as though their ethnicity is from India. One of the males is wearing what looks like a pair of pajama pants and a tank top. He holds a bucket. The other two are wearing board shorts. The girl stands up she is wearing jean shorts and a white top. She is not ready to swim. She hold an ipad. One of the males in the shorts stands at the edge of the pool facing the woman holding the ipad. The male with the bucket stands off to the side. Ice bucket challenge. Too far away, I cannot hear who he nominates.

By this time the group of 5 and the two girls in the hot tub have turned their attention to the ice bucket challengers. As the Indian male with the bucket dumps the ice cold water onto the other the spectators clap. The one who is now shivering and wet does a back flip into the pool. Now the spectators are cheering and clapping even louder.

This seems to put the occupants into a good mood and the vibe around the pool is positive. The inner tube boys jump out of the pool and crack open a few more beers. The ice bucket challengers crowd around the ipad probably replaying their video, and the two sunglasses girls sit silently in the hot tub enjoying the atmosphere.
