New Time New Vibe

The once blue sky is spotted with grey rain clouds. Although the clouds tend to block out the warmth of the sun, the sun still tries to make an effort to shine like a crystallized carbon. There is no breeze present. I arrived earlier than usual in my past observations.

Only a few people are present. A group of girls enter the building on the left. Three out of the five girls have backpacks. The other two have giant purses, overfilled with notebooks. The Group is dressed up for a Friday while the majority are in relaxing comfortable clothing. The vibe here seems lazy due to the absence of people and the fact that it is Friday.

A twenty-something lady with her hair in a bun talks on the phone shaded by the trees. Bun Lady is not talking too loud like the Beige Girl from last week. Another gentlemen using earphones is sitting out on the steps. Earphone Guy is busy with his phone. It looks as though he is watching a video from the position his phone is in. The sun is beginning to peak out through the clouds. It is getting warm really fast. Earphone Guy leaves, probably because of the shift in weather.

The field site is starting to become more crowded as more people enter. Another person, Skater Dude, is also on his phone. He is at ease while skating across the sidewalk. Hat Man takes a smoke by the building on the right. Black T-shirt Guy sits at a bench in the middle of the plaza. Black T-shirt Guy is doing nothing in particular besides staring off into the distance like he is some actor doing a self-thought scene.

Oddly enough no one is going into the restaurant probably due to the time of the day. Most students are going to class now. In fact I doubt the restaurant is even open.

Backpack Guy approaches the Hat Guy. Backpack Guy and Hat Guy sit down on a bench to chat. An older women, a university employee, wheels out a couple of odd items including bottled water and paper plates to another building. You could guess there is a luncheon going on.

Two girls talk loudly while entering a building. A white t-shirt girl approaches Black T-shirt Guy. It seems as though they have known each other for a while by the way they talk to each other and their body movements. White T-shirt Girl and Black T-shirt Guy walk off together. Another man joins them as they walk off.

A trio of guys stroll across the plaza. Bun Girl walks away, chatting. The Trio approach Hat and Backpack Guy. It seems they are good friends. They look happy to see each other and immediately begin talking and joking around. Clock chimes in the distance.

Maroon (from last week’s Field Notes) walks toward the entrance of a building. The Trio, Hat and Backpack Guy greet her before she enters the buildings. One could guess they are good friends with her also. They joke and ask her how she is and also talk about Maroon’s class assignment.
