It was a Friday night when I developed an appetite for wings. I could tell from the parking lot that the restaurant was crowded and there would most likely be a wait to be seated. I had never been here before so I was unsure of what to expect. As I walked through the door, I was greeted by a hostess and became immediately overwhelmed with the loud music playing. I followed the hostess to the table and ordered mango tea. The restaurant wasn't nearly as crowded as I had been expecting but there were a few groups of people I was able to observe.
Sitting behind me was a girl that I had met when I was a freshman in high school. She was accompanied by another young woman and they both ordered a beer. After a few minutes had passed, the girl I knew got up and scurried away for a few moments. When she returned, she was holding the hand of a man while directing him to the table. Within five minutes, another gentlemen showed up wearing a Mayfield track shirt that was way too tight for him. Upon being seated, the waiter arrived with a few more beers but realized the track star was underage. I noticed the girls constantly getting up and running towards the bathroom.
Across from me was a family gathering. To be honest they were rather obnoxious and rowdy but I could tell that they were having a good time. One of the women kept standing up to jokingly shout, "get security." I am going to assume that the vast majority of the family had order wings but it was hard to tell since they were already finished with their meals before I had been seated. They spoke about sports and old embarrassing stories of one another.
On the other side of me was a family of five, all of which being female. One of the daughters, that appeared to be mid teens, brought along her boyfriend and I could immediately tell that the mother was unhappy. I couldn't see what was going on between them but I could see the discomfort in the mothers eyes. They all ordered soft drinks and eventually decided to get a large basket of boneless wings.
The last group I observed was a family of three. There was a mother, father, and son. When they got their menus, I overheard the dad mention the ridiculous prices for wings. He said, "$18.99 for a large order? That's only 24 wings." The waitress assured him that the quantity would be more than enough to fill up the family and they could even get different flavors to share. They got terryaki, mild, and the traditional hot.
I had to leave the restaurant abruptly after finishing my meal because my friend had gotten sick. Before actually leaving the restaurant, I was able to quickly turn around and see the smiles on the faces of the people I had observed. They were all enjoying their Friday evening.
