World Views

The skies are cloudy and rain is threatening the morning. I enter the church and sit by Mr. Caffeine. We wait for the service to being and Mr. Caffeine sips his venti cappuccino down.
The worship starts and everyone stands. Singing voices fill the church with a beautiful sound. Mr. Caffeine sets his dink aside and raises his hands in the air and praises God. I’ve noticed people doing this in my previous weeks of attendance. They lift their hands in praise and not only during worship, but in prayers as well. Some don’t even sing along, but say their own prayers to Him, under their breath. What I realized, was not was it only prayers that Mr. Caffeine was saying, but he was having something like a conversation. It sounded like he was expressing gratitude and thanks for Gods works.
I overheard Mr. Caffeine while worship was playing and other sang along. What I understood from his faint words was that he was in fact having a conversations with God. I wasn't trying to be nosy, but this intrigues me. It sounded like he was talking about the problems that he had going on with his life. The service moves along and the sermon begins. Today, the Father spoke about morals. He shared what in life, a catholic person should believe and live by and the specific morals that should define one’s life.
This reminded me of what we have been discussing in class about world views. We discussed how morals and values could relate to religion, and it is now downing on me what I replay in my head what was preached today in Mass.
I remember a follow classmate saying that religion is the “framework” of one’s world view. They are very similar but worldview is kind of shaped by religion. I feel that one’s religion kind of bases the way someone would love their life. It really influences the way you do things and the way you think if you are really dedicated to this one religion.

The service ends and I leave with new knowledge. I learned that Catholic values are very important to this specific religion. The pastor said “prayer is the entrance to heaven.” He expressed that one should pray morning, noon, and nights. If you are thinking about bad thoughts, you should pray. Or, if you are about to eat a meal, you should pray as well. Life is all about prayer and building a strong relationship with God, the pastor explained.
