My Water Broke!

The noise in here is just a mixture of small conversations and laughter. To be honest, I am really liking getting to come to a restaurant every week, trying new food, well not all of it has stood up to what it’s reckoned to be but it was alright. This time I am at a “fancy” Mexican restaurant. There is an elderly couple sitting together in one corner, not really saying much, just enjoying each others company. A mother with her daughter and infant grandchild are sitting in another table, close by. The daughter feeding her child and the mom making faces at her so she can laugh.
In a section towards the back, still visible to where I am, there is a group of ladies celebrating a baby shower. This is going to be interesting! There's maybe like 12 other people in the restaurant besides those that I mentioned but I have a feeling most of my blog is going to be about them.
At first they are sitting around the table, there is a lot of yellow at the table, and where I grew up in, yellow meant that the couple didn't know the gender of their baby. Or it also meant that the person buying a gift didn't remember the gender of the baby so just bought them something yellow. After what seems about like 15 minutes of talking and giggling, I see the pregnant lady get up and oh boy is her stomach big! She stands up and grabs some cards and hands out some round little blue things, my guess is that they are about to play baby bingo. I hear her call out things such as diaper, bib, and rubber duck and so on. One lady yells out bingo and everyone applauded except for three ladies that maybe secretly hoped she wouldn't of won, because they playfully booed her.
Next, the pregnant lady brings out some diapers with some numbers on it. Uh oh, I think, I know what this game is. In this game, they rub either different types of baby foods or chocolates on the inside of the diaper to made it look like the baby pooped itself. The diapers are then passed around and each player gets to open the diaper and smell it’s contents, the brave ones even taste it. They have to write down what type of food or chocolate it is, according to each numbered diaper they get. Once they get started I notice that some people that are in the restaurant are looking at them like weirdos; I laugh because I’ve been in that situation before. The person who gets the most guesses right wins the game.
One, of the more interesting games they play is called My water broke. I know, when I heard the pregnant lady say that, I was just like this does not sound good! However, it wasn't too bad. The waiter came out with ice cubes that had something really small frozen inside. I overhear the mother-to-be, that they are going to put an ice cube with a toy baby, that's what it is, inside a cup and they are going to need to warm it up using either their hands of legs to get the ice to start melting, but they cannot blow into the cup or touch the ice cube. The first person to successfully melt all the ice and have freed the baby, has to yell out my water broke. Watching this game was actually pretty interesting, watching some ladies shaking their cups, others just holding it in between their thighs.
Overall, coming here was a good thing. The food was good and so was the entertainment.
