The house of beefcakes

This weeks field study was at the gym during the hours of the gorillas which is 5-8PM monday-thursday. This time of the day seems to be the most popular time for people to go work out. The gym is packed and it is very hard to get in a great work out but luckily for me it is a great time to study what people are doing and take field notes. At these hours it seems like people are there to socialize and check each other and themselves out. There has been multiple occasions where I saw a meat head checking himself out in the mirror or gazing at a female. I don't know if that is the main reason most of them are there but it doesn't seem like the best workout to me. There were a lot of people actually getting a work out in though. Some were even showing off to try and impress the women there but at least they were getting exercise for their muscles and not their eyes.

Now moving on to the women working out there. At this time of day you rarely see a female there by herself. She is either working out with her friends or her boyfriend. The types of workouts that the ladies do are a lot different than the men. Usually the females do cardio and core while the men are working on their glamour muscles (biceps, triceps and chest). You see the occasional body building female, who is with her beefcake boyfriend, doing hardcore exercising and lifting more than some of the guys there which to me is pretty hilarious. If the guys would actually work out and not gaze at woman they would be a lot stronger and bigger than they are now. But besides that, this weeks field notes went pretty well. I usually do not go at these hours because it is way to packed but i thought i would change it up and see how different it will be. It seems like most of the days people are doing the same thing. For example, if its leg day for someone it will most likely be leg day for 90 percent of the people there. One thing i need to mention for this week, it seems like everyone gets there and leaves at the same time which is really interesting. I like to joke and say they all participate in a protein party afterwords but im never invited because i am not beefcake enough.
